First of all, let me express how much I appreciate all the support, prayers, cards and love that you have given to me over the past year. It means more than you will ever know. As you know, I was sick when my husband went into the hospital this last time. When I finally got to see him, he didn't know I was there. I took his hand a couple of times; and he pulled it away. At that time he had pneumonia (even though he had received 2 different pneumonia vaccinations), extremely low blood pressure, AFIB, no urine output, he was unable to swallow liquids or solids, had low oxygen and he had sepsis (the infection had spread to his blood). They said he was in a terminal condition. I made the hard decision that a food tube would NOT be inserted and he would NOT be resuscitated. I let Hospice take over. My husband had been through SO MUCH over the past year; and he would never be coming home and he would have to endure the long term care facility, going in and out of the hospital, crappy food, sitting in bed all day, only seeing me once a week, etc. They were going to send him back to the facility; but I thank God that they kept him in the hospital. He had a large, private, clean room with soft music playing and beautiful pictures scrolling on the TV screen. When we went to see him he was not conscious and was kept comfortable with medication. The next day he passed away. I loved this man with every cell in my body; and I know I will never experience love like we had again. I was with him for 58 years, 54 married. I wish we could have had 58 more. I pray for him every day and tell him that I love him. I'm sorry it took me so long to give you an update; but I just wasn't ready to be social. Thank you again for being my friends. I cherish each and every one of you. Photo Credit: Mine - He grew a beard after we were married; and that's how I remember him. He looks so stiff and stern in the picture; but that's not how he was.

My prayers are with you, I know it will be a long time before you'll be able to really heal but what you wrote lets me know that you are a very wise and compassionate woman

He was a sweetheart. When I got ready to leave he offered me an entire bag of apples to eat along the way. I’m “glad” you’re back. I wish things could change. You know I’m here if you need me.

I can very well understand your deep pain and why you have not come here sooner. You took the right decision, and I can imagine how hard this had been. Take care of yourself now Linda, you also need to rest.

@LadyDuck, the pain she felt might be so sharp that it's like a dagger hitting her vulnerable heart. Let's pray she would ease a little and move on. Hoping you are also okay this time with your hubby in your new home.

Oh, Linda, my heart breaks for you and I admit I have tears in my eyes. What a beautiful bride and handsome groom you all were! You were blessed with a wonderful marriage for so many years. I can certainly understand why you haven't felt up to being on myLot...you know we love you and have been praying for you both. Take care, get as much rest as you can, I know you'll cherish such wonderful memories. Love and hugs.

@LindaOHio I'm doing pretty good, negative reports lately on two cancer tests. Dale has the flu, but I think his flu shot kept it from being so severe. There's an awful lot of flu everywhere now, I pray you'll stay well.

I am so sorry to hear about your husband and I can understand how hard it must be. You made the right decision even though it was probably the hardest decision you have ever made. He is at peace now and hearing how much you cherished him makes me smile. It's good to see you here today and I hope that you'll be spending more time with us. You've been missed. Sending you healing prayers and hugs

I know it had to have been hard. Sepsis is almost always fatal, especially when it reaches the blood. So, that's the right thing to have done. I'm glad he didn't suffer long on hospis.

@LindaOHio I just want you to take comfort in knowing, that the last time you physically saw him, he more than likely knew you were there. I know it didn't seem that way because he quite literally pushed you away, but more often then not, it's to spare the one left behind the last memory of the dying one at their lowest. He wants you to remember him as the healty robust man you fell in love with. Not the frail thing in a hospital bed.

Reading this brought tears. To have a love that long and deep is so very special. I know he will live on in your heart forever. And, a picture to cherish. Linda, you did all that you could, I am sorry you had to make that last hard decision. You truly had a love for a lifetime, and of course you wanted more years. I am glad you felt like coming here to chat and update everyone. Please take good care of yourself.

@LindaOHio The decision you made is the hardest one you will ever have to make. He did the best he could, and so did you, he was simply just too sick to get well. Now, he is out of pain, and as you said, no doubt playing with those puppies. And it's an honor to be your friend, Linda.
