What makes life hard this time?

There are many things that make life hard this time. Let alone the prices of everything unbelievable. When I bought a lemon grass , I was so shocked. The price a kilo is $ 2 , it seems craziness, I bought only 1/4 a kilo. My sister likes to add lemongrass to her beef stew. I cannot believe that starting this month, the old prices were doubled. I started to plant carrots in our backyard, lemon grass, onions, garlic, ginger and tomatoes . I planted them in a huge basin that got damaged. It is my other experiment to know if they will grow in salty soil. In my opinion, the prices are being manipulated by the business operators. What do you think?

You bring up a very real and frustrating issue. Rising prices are making everyday life more challenging for many people. It’s shocking how even basic ingredients like lemongrass have doubled in price, making it harder to afford the things we once took for granted. Your decision to start planting your own vegetables and herbs is a great way to adapt, and I admire your creativity in repurposing a damaged basin for gardening. It’s also interesting that you’re experimenting with growing in salty soil. I’d love to hear how that turns out!

@Namaco21 Rising prices are making everyone struggle more and more and that's why so many people are cutting back on regular family meals and actually eating junk food or as little as possible per day.

Prices are going up everywhere across the world. They are relatively low in our country; but I know they will increase in future. It is perhaps because of the wars going on in some parts of the world.

Prices are going up everywhere - but no economy lesson from me . I will say that lemon grass is supposed to be easy to grow. I saw videos during the pandemic to grow it in water bottles (hey, kinda like your onions!). My Vietnamese friend has a big bucket of lemon grass growing in her yard - she cuts them and gives them to friends because it grows really well. I don't use lemon grass enough, so it's just better for me to buy one stalk at a time.

@cacay1 Wow, you did well with your onions! Hope your lemon grass works out as well . Do lemon grass used a lot in Filipino foods?

@much2say yes lemon grass tea reduces blood pressure instantly. Many extract its juice for the hair. My neighbor 75 years old, applies lemon grass juice since she was in her 30s, her hair remains in its usual color black. Her daughters envied their mom. They're in their 40s but their hair already turned gray.

@much2say, that is true, lemon grass is impossible to be valued hehe. At home we planted lemon grass. About my onions in the bottle I already harvested them all and transferred planting the roots in a wide damaged basin . I will show the results next days about its performance.

It seems that sometimes it is weeks of obstacles, then all of a sudden all is going good.

@wolfgirl569, that's right but plants here grow on salty water. Maybe they think there is no option

Yes, times are tough here, too. Many big businesses are closing down, laying off workers, and good jobs are not easy to find

@zhangxueying, it's so excruciating to bear if a worker is layoff. It's indeed not easy to find a job and the prices of everything are skyrocket.

@zhangxueying, it's happening in many countries. It's so depressing reality.
