I’m babysitting today

My great nephew usually gets babysat by his grandma but she has a stomach bug so my niece asked me to watch him.
5am is so early for me. My little one didn’t go to bed until 10:30pm and I went to bed around 11pm.
Photo is unrelated and is just a cute hairstyle I did on my little ones hair a few days ago.
My little one still has a runny nose and gagged in her sleep at 2am and vomited. I cleaned her up and brought her in our bed. She was kicking in her sleep so much that I went down stairs on the couch to try to get a few hours in. Didn’t work.
My niece dropped him off and he cried so much for his momma that it woke my little one up. She came down and that cheered him up.
My husband has left for work and my niece won’t be back until 3pm. The kids are playing with wooden blocks and I’m thankful for a nice warm coffee.

I hope that the children keep each other happy over the course of the day today.
You did a really great job on your daughter's hair.
I have tried to do something similar to that with Harper, but she doesn't like to sit still long enough, and Willow doesn't like anything in her hair, no elastics or clips or anything.

@Juliaacv my little one was a little jealous at times but I explained what she was feeling and that it’s normal and okay to feel that way since she isn’t used to sharing her toys. We took turns with things and she did really well.
My little one was wiggling so much I almost didn’t think I was going to get her hair done. She was playing with playdough so at least she wasn’t running around like usual.

@GardenGerty it helps that she likes being fancy so she wanted her hair done. I explained I might have to stop because it was so hard to do with her wiggling. Id let her move around as much as I could let her then would say ok now hold as still as you can just while I do this spot. Then I’d tell her it was okay to move again.

@Fleura thank you on the hairstyle comment. I saw it on Pinterest. They had used red and white bands and a red bow and added some glitter all around the heart. It was very pretty. I thought this turned out cute though.
They are having fun together. They are taking a bubble bath.

@snowy22315 he is 16 months. She’s enjoying it but a little jealous too. Would be better if she had gotten more sleep. Hopefully they both take a nap at some point that’s an early morning for them both.

@allknowing he cried for his momma many times after that too but it’s understandable he isn’t used to being away from his mom or being at my house.
My husband gave me a nice compliment though he asked as soon as he got home from work how I managed to keep the house so clean with two kids here. I said I cleaned up after them as they made messes.

@DaddyEvil true they both took short naps at separate times. Probably would have been longer if they had both napped at the same time then they wouldn’t have woken each other up.

That warm coffee does make things better. I am glad this is not an all the time thing. I often found when baby sitting that having two in a similar age range was easier than one, because they interact with one another.

@wolfgirl569 it started back up many times today. I’ve only watched him three times I believe and only see them at parties so it’s very understandable he was scared and wanted his momma.

@Marilynda1225 thank you. It takes me forever to get out of the house I usually just brush her hair and put a bow in it. Moms who do these fun hairstyles before taking their kids out I don’t know how they do it.
The kids did good together but my great nephew is a bit of a brute.

@shaggin I remember those days of raising little ones and I could barely get out of the house too. I was always baffled by the moms who seemed to have more hours in the day than I did or kids who sit still long enough to actually have a hairstyle.

Wow, that sounds like such a rough night and an early morning on top of it! I hope you get a chance to rest later. It’s so sweet that your little one helped cheer up your great nephew. kids really do have a way of comforting each other. And thank goodness for warm coffee! Hang in there!
