I woke up this morning feeling upset and it really hasn't gotten better in the past few hours that I have been awake. I am still dealing with chronic pain that I have been suffering from all weekend, but I have to be productive today so I need to ignore my chronic pain somehow and focus on my work. I do a lot of freelance work connected to the full-time job I held before my chronic pain made me resign and take up freelance work to keep afloat.
I received a call from one of my bosses that there is an opening this evening for a waitressing job in the catering business he owns if I am interested. Despite my chronic pain and how defeated I am feeling today, I immediately accepted the job that will only last two hours and takes 32 minutes to travel back and forth using my car. I need the money and can't complain.
I am a replacement for a full-time waitress who called in sick at the last minute so this was a pleasant surprise. I also have another job this Friday that is probably going to last most of the day so I was only looking forward to that one to pay my bills.
I live with my parents so I don't have to worry about mortgage/rent, but I do have a lot of other bills that eat up all my money like health insurance, car insurance, phone bill, my portion of the internet bill, water/electric/gas bill, and more. I don't have any student loans because I never went to college. No one in my family went to college. We simply aren't the type to go to college, I suppose. And I have zero credit card debt because I only make debit card purchases.
I just need to maintain my freelance work until I can work full-time as a waitress again. I worked at a local restaurant part time from ages 16 to 18 and then became full-time from ages 18 to 20 before I resigned from that job to work as a nightclub waitress from ages 21 to 23 and then resigned from that due to chronic pain and other physical and mental illnesses that made it impossible for me to hold down a full-time job. I have been freelancing as a waitress for local catering businesses from age 23 to now, age 28.
I will keep trying to stay productive today. I hope for the best.

Sometimes it helps to think of something that makes you smile. Or take a nice long bath maybe with some epson salt.

Thank you. 40 more minutes and I'm driving out to the location for a two hour shift, filling up the gas on the way back, and then coming home with a check hopefully.

@RebeccasFarm Guess what? I won't because the full-time employees will take the entire jar. They are really mean and territorial.

Two hours only, sounds like a good gig. Then work is a good way to distract oneself from most worries. I just hope the pain won't be around much by then.

@somewitch Yes, I could've taken the train there and shortened the time, but I really hate riding the train. So many psychos on there. You need to actually be on the train to wonder if you will get out of there alive.

Yes, it will start in an hour from now. I am kind of excited. I need the money and every penny counts right now. I will work two hours and the travel back and forth is 32 minutes. 16 minutes each isn't too bad. I need to refill my gas on the way back though because I'm running kind of low so there goes some of my money. Chronic pain is still there, but it's more manageable because I took a really long bath today with bath salts.
