Dark History of St. Valentine

His story is rather vague but it is said that's was a Roman priest in the 5th Century who defied Emperor Claudius II. He had banned marriage so that his soldiers would be more willing to go to war. St. Valentine continued to marry couples in secret. This was found out and he was beaten and beheaded. What some will do for love. The picture is from The Mirror.com

those are all legends. only he knows the truth this was the time when catholic/christian religion was not completely acknowledged by romans so there is no exact evidence.

@celticeagle i agree about that. i also read that back then, there were 3 saints by this name so even the roman catholic church doesn't know who is the real one

I've been writing a series of articles about different saints. I remember researching Saint Valentine but I omitted him from the article. There may have been more than one Saint Valentine, meaning uncertainty as to which stories are about which Valentine.
