Plan B

I was so excited to make burritos today, once I was done preparing the filling I went to the cabinet to grab the tortilla wraps and... they didn't look good. I didn't check to see if they were expired but they had something nasty growing on them, so I threw them away. I thought of making wraps from scratch hoping they wouldn't take too much time, and apparently they're very easy to make. Except I didn't have the right flour. In order to stretch the tortillas very thin without breaking them, it's best to have a flour that is high in gluten, otherwise known as "strong flour". That's the flour you'd use to make bread or pizza, while I had a weak all-purpose. So what I ended up making was flatbread. I even took baking classes years ago, so I should have known that, but I was too concerned with making up for the lack of tortilla wraps I forgot. Not that I would have used another flour, we don't have any at home and I didn't feel like going to the store for a bunch of flour. Not a big deal. I had a nice meal even if it wasn't exactly what I planned.

Interesting knowledge, now i know what is the difference in the flour and why something does not taste or feel right despite of it looking like what it is suppose to be.

@id_peace I don't think flour strength makes much of a difference in terms of taste, but I guess it affects the texture as gluten can make the dough more chewy. I don't mind that, it's just that I couldn't get to stretch the dough as thin as I wanted.

@wolfgirl569 Thanks! That flatbread was the most burned of them all and the cheese slice is covering the ground beef thing where I also added onion and bell pepper. I mean, it could have looked even better.

@rakski Thank you, it did taste good! But I'll have to add more salt, not for taste but for the cramps. Whatever helps with that.

@grenery8 Thank you! I'll make my own tortillas in the future, I just need the strong flour.

I feel you. but what matter is you still had a nice meal. I usually buy ingredients that I needed it is that because we are very fortunate that we have lots of store open nearby our house. Just like earlier, we run out of eggs at 5 Am I run to the store nearby our house and buy them for our ramen, I don't like eating ramen without eggs.
