Another fatal plane crash? Are you kidding me?

I have not yet confirmed that this really happened. I am home from playing music with my friends. Have you been following the news today? I have not. Has something changed relating to aviation safety? I'll be watching the news, but right now I need some sleep.
Authorities said the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash that occurred in Scottsdale Airport.

I wonder what is the brand of the airplane? Boeing or Airbus?

@yukimori Learjet? The name sounds familiar.

This one was a Learjet. They're reporting that the landing gear failed and sent it into another plane that was parked.

Smaller planes in Texas. Or was it Arizona?

There's been at least one plane crash near our local airport in the last month. Someone in the local emergency group on Facebook posted pictures of it sitting on the side of the road across the highway from the runway. I don't think anyone was hurt in that one, but the plane sustained a bit of damage. The one in Scottsdale is all over the local news. I heard about it from one of the university students I work with who's studying aviation science shortly after it happened.

@TheHorse Yeah, that's what's being reported for the Learjet yesterday. I hadn't thought this happens that frequently, but in looking for information about the incident mentioned above I found there have been at least three incidents in this area in the last 6 months. September 8 a small plane crashed into a residential area about an hour away from us. October 31 a plane made an emergency landing in a field, no injuries. January 18 was the one that didn't quite make it to the runway and ended up on the side of the highway. Thinking about it, one of the emergency group admins posts runway alerts pretty frequently, too.

Landing gear collapse, apparently. If I am keeping all of the crashes correctly in memory.

I missed on this one news. I have heard of several fatal air crashes since December 2024. I am as such so afraid of flying.

It is odd. It shows how important support of airplane safety is.

@arunima25 I have never researched how many fatal plane crahes there are in an average year in the US.

No, I haven't heard of this one but yeah, news talk have been talking about plane crashes on a daily basis now. It's really strange.

I just read an article about it. Vince Neil, the lead singer for Mötley Crüe, owned the plane. He was NOT on it.

Here’s an interesting story. According to this, there are an average of FIVE plane crashes per day.
Several times a year, we see the terrible news of a major plane crash that lingers in the memory and start to question just how safe is flying? How often do planes crash? While plane crashes on…

@TheHorse — you know what they say about lies, damn lies, and statistics. A plane crash can be defined in a lot of different ways, like a luggage car banging into one, necessitating repairs. It isn’t always one falling out of the sky. And, the also consider helicopters. Finally, most of these are “commuter” or “private” planes. Unless there’s a famous person aboard, you never hear about it outside of the area where it happened.

It’s been a busy day here and I am just now catching up on news, etc. I saw that article. Obviously, something somehow is very wrong with either air traffic control, massive pilot error, or bad maintenance. Maybe a combination? Maybe it goes deeper than that? I don’t know, of course. But it’s extremely concerning.
