In the Dark

We had a lovely day here today. It was dry and sunny. They are calling it the calm before the storm. The storm is expected to begin late tomorrow afternoon.
The morning began a little rough for me. I was working away and made a quick trip to the laundry room, when boom, everything went dark. The hydro went out.
It stayed out for over an hour. I looked it up online and it was a wide spread outage in the city. My manager texted me asking if everything was alright. I replied back that the power was out, she lives in another town and wasn't aware.
I had to go out and sit in our vehicle to charge my phone at one point. It was a nice little break, since it last for over an hour's time. I was really quick to press the 'on' button on the coffee maker once the power was restored, I didn't want to be caught without any, especially given the fact that none of the Tim Horton drive-thru's would be open as most would be in the dark also.

Power outages are stressful. I just give up doing anything during them and head to bed.

@lilacskies It was only down for a little over 5 minutes, but still quite a dangerous situation.

@Juliaacv I wonder why the cell signal would go off along with power outage. Odd indeed.

@Juliaacv At least you were prepared and willing and the outage only lasted an hour. Kind of the boss or whomever to check up on you.

Glad the power came back on. It can be really miserable without it. I'm thankful we have a generator in case our lights go out. How are you feeling today?

We ended up with 5.5" of snow so far. I think it's done now. But the 10-day forecast is calling for 11-14" next Thursday (not tomorrow).

I hate power outages. You never know how long they are going to last.

I'm very glad we have a generator and I have several portable phone and computer chargers from Hali. We do lose our power sometimes when we have a storm or strong winds.

That sounds like a quite a morning! Power outages can be frustrating. Atleast you got a small break while charging the phone in the car. To relieve all the stress, you wanted a good coffee and I can imagine the relief on pressing the coffee maker button when the power came back. Never realized the Tim Horton drive throughs would also not be ready although open. I think itwas better to have coffee at home given the circumstances. Hopefully the weather would not be bad and the storm may not be bad.Things could stay calm for sometimes hopefully. Stay safe and take care!
