That Incident

Last night I recalled a horrific incident that had happened with me a few years ago. One morning I saw a flock of crows sitting on a pile of garbage lying in the ground in front of my house. Out of curiosity I went near them to see what the birds were doing there. One of the crows saw me. Some others also saw me. And before I could understand anything; they attacked me. I ran away towards my house to take shelter. They were flying over my head trying again and again to hit my head with their beaks. For the next 10 days or even more I was unable to go anywhere without covering my head with an umbrella or hiding myself from them. Later on I came to know they were training a baby crow how to fly and they had mistaken me for their baby's enemy.

@Shivram59 Geese can attack if they want. If you see an angry goose coming for you, run. It does not matter if you did nothing to contribute to their rage. They are like some people I know.

Geese don't attack; I think. Crows do.

That is terrible. It sounds like the movie The Birds.

Actually they mistook me for their enemy. I have not seen the movie; but have read some excerpts of a novel about a war between human beings and birds. What happened with me was a horrific experience.

@Shivram59 It would be terrible to have the birds against you. They did not know that you were no danger to their baby. Any mother would protect their infant.

I've never had crows attack me but I usually don't bother them. I'm glad they didn't hurt you.

Actually they couldn't. I hid myself if they are around or covered my head with an umbrella.

@Shivram59 Some people in the US have harassed crows or killed some. The crows' friends and family still watch for those people and attack them if they see them. Crows are really smart!

@DaddyEvil My elder brother had killed some crows; but those crows were just perching on the branches of trees. They had not attacked or harmed anybody.

@Shivram59 that's their parent's instinct. Crows are like dogs so protective for their young. Animals are sometimes better than humans because they abort their unborn babies .

@cacay1 I fully agree with you. One thing I had read somewhere animals and birds protect each other as well. I read crows are often found protecting sparrows or their eggs from cats.

It was very horrific. I didn't know the birds would attach me. But that day I learned a valuable lesson - don't try to go near crows when they are training their baby.
