Good morning friends.

Today one of my friends discovered and later sent me a phone number of a person who works on recycling. She comes to the houses and apparently has a truck to take away just about everything. I will start cleaning up. My daughters don´t want anything from me. Tania lives happily in a house that I call "The little house in the prairie". It has one room and a tiny bathroom. When she went to live there she had to give away most of her belongings. And she has never lived as happily as she lives there. Claudia has a big house here in Santiago. But she is not interested in any furniture or gadgets. She is not even interested in any of my pictures, not even if she can sell them. So I´m giving some of my things away. I have given a lot to Dixie and to Camila. But there are some things that nobody wants. So I´ll go to the second floor and make a big pile. I´m glad that now there are some people interested in recycling.

It sounds like what Pretty and I did when we were getting ready to move into this house. We took a lot of stuff to a second-hand store and donated it. People can buy it and the money goes to help the poor. Other things we piled beside the street with signs saying "Free" and the local Mexicans came and took it all. We found out we still owned too much furniture and stuff we wanted to keep for it to fit in this little house. We put it in the garage here and haven't bothered any of it since then. (We've lived here over 7 years. We really need to go out and put more of the stuff by the curb and put a "Free" sign up with it.) I'm glad there's someone there willing to take the things you don't need/want anymore.

It is incredible the amount of unwanted things that we gather as years go by. I have some beautiful china dishes that were my mother´s. I only use them once in a while and I´m not happy when I do. They have to be washed by hand. I love some white dishes that I once traded at the gas station. They gave you a dish depending on the amount of gas you bought. If they break I don´t mind.

@DaddyEvil I was glad when I discovered that one of my closest friends collects crystal glasses rgat are hand carved. I have some that were made in Checkoslovakia. I will give them to him. They are priceless and my daughters would break them in 2 weeks.

It’s really nice that the recycling lady will come to your home to get the things.

Sounds like a plan. How does she get compensated for her work?

This is a problem for many of us older people. No-one wants our stuff, not even our children. I'm glad you've found someone who can make use of some of it.

My children probably would like all my electronic gadgets. But they are not interested in art or furniture.

@marguicha And our boys are so far away it's not viable for them to take anything.

That is beautiful. A simple, small house is the best, right?

For a long time I have been living only in the first floor of my house. I hope I can sell it and buy a small house for me.

Recycling is a good deal at least the things are put to good use.
