Food Driven Beast LOL

Its crazy how you can train a dog by simply repeating words or tasks and rewarding them when they perform or follow an order. My Dog in particular is a rescue I adopted two years ago and his name says it all. His name is Taz as the Tasmanian devil since he was a puppy he was very high energy puppy. Two years later and my dog can literally follow over 5-6 demands and task and can communicate when he is hungry or wants to go outside. I personally think its amazing that these fury companions can be smarter than even humans. Do you have a pet that is trained? My dog listens to sit demand, give me paw, lay down, stay and if i ask if he is hungry he will respond with a bark and runs over to his bowl and taps it with his paw lol. Image is my own

That sounds so much like my Roscoe but in his case he is totally food driven. My rascal will do many things IF I have a treat for him but once he's outside he won't come in unless I ask him if he's hungry, that's when he'll run as fast as he can to get indoors. I adopted him from the humane society when he was 13 weeks old, now he's 4 years old.

I pray Roscoe doesn't do that cuz I usually break down his cookies before I'll give him a piece ...... Kritters are way smarter than most people give them credit for.

Yes, both cats and dogs are very food motivated. I haven't trained this cat, but I had one that would shake hands.

What breed of dog do you have? I agree. Dogs devour treats. My two dogs are treat maniacs. That really helps when it comes to training. I like to communicate with all of my fur crew- both cats and dogs. Yes to my dogs knowing stuff. Neither know give me paw but they know to shake hands. Both know I demand that they do not get in my way on steps. My Heeler, Rufus, knows to wait for me to either get up or down steps before he moves. He heels well on leash. He backs when told to back. Both are rescue pups. I am allergic to dogs but love to work with them.

Those are cute tricks that your dog does. My pet sheep would start heading for his own paddock if he'd been out with us and said 'Time to go home, Herc'. Somehow he had learnt what that meant.
