A mini split gizmo. A heat pump. It's a way to heat a house and in the summer cool it. Easy peasy. NO. You have to know what the bitty icons on the remote control mean. Yesterday we had a guy come over and vacuum our bedroom. You're thinking-- you paid somebody to vacuum your bedroom? Yes. He put the pedal to the metal for over half an hour, vacumming like crazy under the bed and all over the entire room. I can't get under the bed. The rug looks almost new! Wow did he get the dog fur up and gone. While he was here he also got up on a stool and removed the Mini Split's filters. Filthy. Blah. He took them outside and let the dust-dirt fly out there. Then he came in and vacuumed the jeebers out of them. Meantime I tried to figure out about how to get heat from the mini split. Sure got more air! Still cold. It's just above freezing outside, with the possibility of rain-snow showers. I went on line and found a video explaining the remote control icons. Now I don't feel so stupid. Gads on all the ways of making the thing work. I think warmer air is coming out and not air condiitioning. It's a great day to distract myself with some baking! Ha ha.

We have a Trane heat pump for this house and it works well. I hope your mini version works just as well there. It's cold and snowing here. We aren't enjoying it.

@sallypup The snow finally stopped, the sun came out and some of the snow is disappearing. That's always nice. Now, if it would just get above freezing, I'd like it a little better. (We're still only up to 22F at 2 pm.)

@DaddyEvil I can still see grass. I am delighted that I'm not on the freeway.

Baking is a great purposeful way to heat the house.

I have a heat pump..works OK..but not in extreme temps They aren't really designed for that. Fortunately, we don't get too many here.

@sallypup It delivers heat, but like in areas by windows it is always lower than it is set for. Also, if it is super hot or cold temp can be off. Of course this unit is over 20 years and old and should probably be replaced. I use it as little as possible though. Not really in the fork over 2000 dollar mode.

@snowy22315 Weird. A heat pump doesn't deliver heat.
