Tired of Commuting? It’s Draining Me! ??

Hey there, MyLot users! How have you all been? ?? It’s been such a long time since I last connected with you all. I hope everyone is doing great—and if not, I truly wish things get better for you soon! Lately, I’ve been feeling so exhausted because of my daily commute. Changing 3-4 buses, then taking a rickshaw on top of that—it completely drains my energy before I even start work! ?? By the time I reach the office, my mood is already cranky, and I struggle to stay motivated. Have you ever felt the same? How do you deal with long, tiring commutes? Any tips to lift my mood and make work life a little happier? Share your commuting experience, and provide me with good suggestions

I like night drives, but I don't like driving to and from work. I also don't want to use public transportation because there are psychos on the bus and subway. Gas prices are high, but I have no choice but to drive.

I wish I knew driving so I could commute freely, but I don't . Its true there are all kinds of weirdos, and psychos in public transport. Uff! It is hectic to travel like this

@manasamanu I know what you mean. Well, I hope you can learn someday. In the meantime, watch out for the psychos and be careful using public transportation. Good luck!

I used to drive an hour one way to work and then drive the hour home again and was exhausted by the time I got home. I hated driving that far every day and finally quit that job and found something closer to home. It didn't pay as much but I didn't care... It paid the bills.

@manasamanu I understand. I found another job before I quit because I was the only one paying bills here. Now, my daughter pays the bills here. I have a friend/brother in India and he travels a long distance every day by train to get to his job and home again.

@DaddyEvil Hard life, need to toil for growth, but the good thing is I have lovely parents who don't pressurize me.

I am looking for a job that will lessen my commute too, but no results yet. Can't even quit since I have to chip in money to pay the bills. Oh this is really frustrating.

I'm thankful that I mainly work from home. I originally had a long commute to the office but worked from home since covid. I have since moved jobs. If I do have to go into the office, it is a 10 minute walk rather than the commute that (despite not being that far away) could take an additional 3 hours out of the day.

Lucky you, don't have to commute for hours, instead work from home. I wish I could be doing that too. Anyways the grass on the other side is always greener for everyone.

I slept in the bus before when we had gone home last 10 years ago in my mom's province in my country

That is definitely exhausting. Long commutes can take a toll on our energy and motivation. Switching multiple vehicles and rickshaw – there is nothing more required for draining you out. Travelling this long may not be a viable solution long term. You could think of carpooling or driving by yourself to the location. It would be better than switching 6 vehicles. Perhaps moving closer to your work location or trying a work location near your residence would also be a good choice. But if these alternatives are not going to work, then practicing mindfulness is the only other viable solution. Take care!

I think mindfulness is the best option right now. Thank you for the suggestion
