Today is Valentine’s Day. We are not going out to eat tonight as far as I’m aware so have to figure out what to make for dinner.
I was going to fry king oyster mushrooms and bake some Chinese yam in the oven. But that’s all I got so far. I need some protein to go along with it.
There’s nothing in the fridge though. There is tongue in the freezer but it won’t defrost by tonight. I guess I’m gonna have to go to the store and get something. I’m thinking either lamb shoulder chops (bone-in) or a big piece of steak.
Or should I get some rabbit legs and bake them? The thing with those is there is only three in a pack and I need four. Getting two packs would make six and that may be a lot.
And there’s no dessert so have to get that as well. I gotta have some baked treats. Maybe a blueberry pie. That sounds delicious. Now where to get it is the question. I don’t want a pie with bio engineered ingredients or high fructose corn syrup or other bad stuff in it.

Hope you have a great day as well. I’m making the Chinese yams now. Will do mushrooms when it’s time to eat. Not sure on the protein yet.

@lilacskies just tried the Chinese yams I made and don’t like the taste. It’s weird to me. And it’s actually slimy (like an okra) when you peel the raw yam. Wonder why.

Trying to get a seat at the table on Valentine's Day is a nightmare. We don't even tempt it. For dinner I made breaded pork sirloin chops with buttered kernel corn and fried potatoes on the side. Good eats! I also got the wifey some flowers and she surprised me with a 6 pack of delicious IPAs.

If you make a reservation for Valentine’s Day in advance getting a table shouldn’t be a problem. But if you decide to go somewhere last minute then you have a problem lol.

@lovebuglena There were places in my St. Louis metro area that if you didn't make a reservation three or four months in advance, you'd be assed out. lol

On the rabbit legs, you can buy 2 pack. Take 4 and frost the other 2 till you eat it again. I love a good lamb shoulder chops and (not or) a big piece of steak. Love a hearty meat meal.

I ended up not getting any meat. We just had the Chinese yams either the mushrooms and opened a can of red pepper paste. It was good. And then we baked mushroom flat bread. Yum!

You are assembling a delicious Valentine’s Day meal! King oyster mushrooms and Chinese yam definitely is a good start. Lamb shoulder chops or big steak could be flavourful Sounds like you’re putting together a delicious Valentine’s Day meal! King oyster mushrooms and Chinese yam already make for a great start. Lamb shoulder chops or a big steak would be hearty and flavourful. However, if you want to try something different rabbit legs would also work. And lastly, no special meal without dessert. Blueberry pie without additives is an excellent choice. Perhaps the local bakery or supermarket would have the same. Hope your meal turned out amazing. Enjoy the weekend!
