Feast and sleep... Weekend began on right note.

Good afternoon from this side of the planet . It's bright sunny here and there is a pleasant breeze. If you see my yesterday's post, I planned to do the things that make me happy on this weekend. So, there is plan for more mylotting , some reading, relaxing, watching good movies and maybe some art and craft. I have a long list of things that make me happy and I can choose only few . It was a feast yesterday at work. We had our team lunch. And it was delicious with a decent varieties to choose from.. The catering was from some lady( our school always patronize her home based catering service as she is an ex parent of the school, is reasonably priced and is extremely good with the taste and quality of her foods). She offers multiple cuisines from various states of India. And yesterday it was from Gujarat and Maharashtra. I loved the food. I tried a bit of most of the dishes. I didn't go for second serving of anything, that's very rare of me. I will fill my plate once watching the portions, that has become a discipline with me. I enjoy every bit of it and my plate is clean after every meal. I was tempted by the dessert of shrikhand ( sweetened curd) and did take a bite of that too. Happy that they had fresh pineapple being cut and served on demand. That was my main dessert . We would generally have our this kind of elaborate team lunch on the last day of academic year in the end of March. But this time we had it earlier because the school wanted to treat our trainers too who were conducting the teachers workshop this whole week. And the question of our regular March end lunch did pop up. Can we fit another one on school budget?. Some did give idea of potluck. And then the catering lady offered us a simple meal of one pot rice, raita and a sweet halwa for dessert. Each teacher has to contribute 70 Indian Rupees for that.. And that's what every teacher voted one. The last day of the academic year is super crazy for teachers and staffs. No one would have an energy to cook anything for potluck . And this delicious meal with generous serving is a win win situation for the little money that we have to contribute to. Once I was back home yesterday, I dozed off and woke up after three hours when my daughter returned home late in the afternoon. . Good filling food and the relaxed mind made me sleep. And the later day was spent in fixing dinner and watching late night movies. We finished two unfinished movies and one new one. It was movie marathon night till 3AM. . So, the weekend started on right note doing things that make me happy . Well, I did miss on mylotting and that I want to compensate today Hope that everyone is enjoying a good weekend

@sathviksouvik I can make all those you said like an expert. But not srikhand. It does not settle well with me.

Srikhand is my weakness. I have tried it a few times and it doesn't come out well. So, I have given upand ask my Marathi friends to treat me whenever they can. Mishti dohi is another of my weaknesses and you have the best ones in Kolkata.

A potluck for department lunch sounds cool but we could not do so if the dish need to be re-heated before serving. The catering lady does every thing with a charges seems to be the perfect idea.

@arunima25 The school is so nice. I don't think any schools in my country allow us to do that

Yes, that is a better idea and the charges are quite nominal for the quality of food and services that she provides. Most teachers and non teaching staffs are parents too. During this time, they get overworked with their children's exams going on, exams of their students, all exams related extra duties, writing reports, winding up sessions, inventory for class etc.A day off from cooking is always appreciated. The school is kind enough to take food packed for your family at the end

Good. The sun is too bright here. The summer is fast approaching, if not already begun. How are your cute kittens?? By the way, do you know any other discussion forum like this one? No problem if they do not pay

We don't get extreme temperatures here in our city. So, not very hot summers or very cold winter here. I don't have cats or kittens. In fact I have a fear of cats and my daughters have cat allergy. They love them but admire from a distance. I have sent one PM to you..you can check.

I would also not, can not afford to. But since it was a free afternoon with no therapy sessions and also a free mind with not much to do, I could on that day

Glad you enjoyed the meal. How many states does India have? I rarely go back for seconds and I eat slowly so I don't finish before everyone else.

India has 29 states and 7 union territories. It's like 29 small countries together if we see the diversity in culture, language and food. I eat very slowly. Eating in less portions and chewing very slowly has become a habit. I would ask others to get going as I take time
