Can't Sleep, Won't Sleep

I thought after coming home from work and taking a long bath, I would head straight to bed and fall asleep. Well, I did head straight to bed, but I couldn't fall asleep. I tried for over an hour, tossed and turned, groaned in frustration, and got on here to distract myself for a bit in hopes of eventually becoming tired and falling asleep.
I just can't sleep. It's been two nights now. I'll have one night of great sleep and then I will end up having insomnia again. Over and over again. Sleeping pills aren't working. Tea isn't working. Rain sounds on YouTube aren't working. So I'm on here right now.
I can't sleep and I won't sleep. Well, I will sleep if I can sleep. See my dilemma? It's quite the torture when one has insomnia. You want to sleep. Your body is begging you to sleep. But you can't sleep. The sleep simply doesn't come to you. So you end up venting like this. Like me.

I'm sorry that you can't sleep, I understand... Need to turn your brain off somehow.

That's okay. I'm just going to distract myself until I can somehow get myself to sleep. I'm not holding out hope though. I'm wide awake and it is frustrating.

@lilacskies I can relate, I'm a night owl plus everything that's going on is keeping me awake.

@hillhjill That makes the two of us. My insomnia has actually turned me into a night owl of sorts and everything going in my own life is also keeping me awake. It's incredible how we relate like this.

It's weird how it works: no matter how tired you are, it just won't happen.
I got that at night time but luckily in my case music and melatonin work, although it still takes some effort on my part too. Daylight makes me sleep like a baby but I can't afford to be asleep during the day.
So as a last resort I may ask, would light work for you? Or does it need to be pitch black?

@lilacskies Aww!
Crying is a great way to unwind, no joke.
As long as you feel better once you're done. It's usually like that.

I know, right? I tried sleeping in light and that made it worse. The light was worsening my migraine that occurs more frequently due to my insomnia and lack of sleep. I also tried music, melatonin, and other methods. I managed three hours of fitful sleep last night. Better than nothing, I suppose.

Maybe try some of the apps that are good for sleep. It would be even better if you could do some gentle stretching yoga.

I've never tried apps before. I will try. Never done yoga either. Another thing I need to look into. Thank you!

@lilacskies Indeed and I experiment with it and find it to be true as well.

Me too. Things are not looking good. I don't feel any sense of tiredness at all. I'm wide awake.
