Happy to get the same spot...

Well, there was no fight for that as I am the only one in staff room who has no work as such in school today and can sit relaxed in the staff room.. I am back to the spot that I got yesterday, enjoying the sunlight and pleasant breeze coming from the window. And the beautiful blooms outside... it's riot of colous. I thought to drop in and post this before I go ahead with finishing the report that is on the list. Good morning from this side of the planet . It's 8:40 AM and I came to work at 8 AM. The first thing I took was to clean the art and craft cupboard. I took out one box with the festival celebration things. And discarded the ones that were totally ruined. I have kept them aside in another carton as I would like to take out everything that can be reused for other projects before throwing them away in dustbin. I will do that tomorrow. I am frugal and more than that a strong supporter of reducing the waste for environmental purpose. I want to live what I preach my students. The ones in picture are some really good ones from Christmas decorations and they can be used again the coming year. I have some more from Diwali celebration too. These go in the box neatly and I will take them out next time. They can also be template for students to create more. I am done packing them safely and putting it there.. Aren't they pretty? All made from waste that could be thrown... cardboard, laces from various gift packs etc. Now, I am back to staff room with my laptop ready to finish the report started yesterday. If it gets over, I might do some bit work on cover design of the newsletter. So, excuse me for another 40- 60 minutes before I peep in here again. . For now, I need to focus. I came here last evening when I had some time. But the site showed error message each time I tried loading the page. So, I switched to other site. Hope that all is well in your myLot corner. Take care and enjoy your time.

It amusing seeing finished craft work after a long time. I used to do a lot of craft work when my sons were kids and I was working in schools. Not now.

@arunima25 Actually I don't get the time for craft. With age I am slowing down.

@aninditasen Oh! I see. Quite understandable. It's happening with me too. Not as active like before. My mother used to knit and crochet. Now, even she has slowed down.

It gives so much of satisfaction when you get the finished products after all the efforts and time put there. The children enjoyed it. And I am happy that a good lesson of recycling was taught. We used all waste and used products to make them. Good to know that you did craft. You should still do sometimes. They are very therapeutic.

I am very much for sustainability and reducing the waste. These are such beautiful creations from all waste products like pista shells, old newspaper, amazon cardboards etc and they have turned out so beautiful with little creativity. And so much of therapeutic things like eye hand coordination, muscle movement etc has happened there. . I took some ideas from Pinterest. and made it simpler, something these primary school students including the special ones can do in a group. They had a craft fair and few parents even bought them. Hope that you are having a good day too. Have a nice productive week.

@allknowing Children did most of it with little help from us. The young girl who joined last year as my support and also getting trained is full of energy and she is a big help with these things. Very enthusiastic and eager to learn. She helped me get the materials ready. We would take around 8 children in one session including two special needs who need more hand holding. We managed it well

Environment friendly practices can be hard to do, but makes one feel very satisfied! Cover Design for the newsletter sounds quite an innovative work and I hope that you would get to have a good learning as well. By the way, I read in a news article that Bengaluru has been having highs of 33 C plus - unusual for the time of February. Here the max is touching 28 to 29 C and min of 11 to 12 so fluctuation is big but one can roam without a sweater in the day time. The decorations in the image look magnificent !!

@arunima25 So good use of waste materials. Frankly, one gets to listen or read about very few stories of ways to improve ecology and environment of Bengaluru and other cities. Delhi has got a new CM and Government and let us see how well they work.

@arunima25 Yes a lot needs to be done and they know that they cannot take things for granted. The worst challenge often comes when more than one power source have conflict in decision making. Decision making gets delayed then.

Yes, Bangalore is getting hotter each year. It's quite warm for this time, something that we used to get on some days in May and June. Let's see what kind of summer we have this year. Last year's water crisis and no rain till May was devastating and made news. It might be same this year. Generally Bangalore would start getting rain by APRIL and it continues till December. But it was not so last year. It was dry till May. We have used a collage of some artworks by students as front cover, back cover is of few expressions by our students at various points in our last academic year. It looks good so far. Glad that you liked the decorations. Pinterest is the place I got few ideas from. They are all made from waste products like old newspaper, pista shells, amazon cardboards etc.

Yes, that is been our practice too. Frugal to save money and also reducing waste for environment. These are from our school. I will like to use them. Even the not good ones can give us some materials back that we can reuse.

Thank you Rebecca. I found a good use for all waste materials...old newspaper, pista shells, Amazon cardboard etc. With little creativity, such beautiful decorations were created. I got some ideas from Pinterest and tried them with students at school. They enjoyed it.

Yes, it is indeed a great spot. I don't use staff room much. Generally I would be in resource room and even that has a good spacious place with nice ventilation and plants around . I like the ambience of my workplace. It has good people and good vibes, makes it a right place to work

@arunima25 I'm normally awake during my night time. Some of it I spend on myLot and some of it I spend reading or watching videos online. I always sleep during my daytime and just woke up at 10 pm and had something for "supper".

Looks like a productive morning for you! Enjoying the nature, the sunlight and the fresh breeze while getting the work done is a great way to start things for the day. I really appreciate your commitment to lessen the waste and reuse the materials for creative projects. It is truly inspiring and can definitely help in small steps towards sustainability and well your students are lucky to have such a teacher who leads by example. The festive decorations seem to be beautiful and good they can be repurposed for student projects and future needs. Technical glitches can definitely be frustrating. Well, wish you a smooth and relaxed day. Take care and enjoy the time!

Yes, it was definitely productive morning and it's been so far. I came back home at 11:45 at finished cooking lunch. Things are ready and now rice is on stove and I am here. . I will have my lunch in half an hour or little more. Husband is working from home today and I will wait till he finishes his work. It has been few times lately when I had time to myLot, myLot was down facing technical glitches. It's happening more frequently off late. Seems like some bug has not been properly fixed. Hope that you are having a good day too. Have a nice productive week.

Thank you. I am happy that you liked them. They are all from old newspaper, pista shells, amazon cardboards etc. They got used so well. Well, food is the central attraction of any festival or celebrations. Once the stomach is happy, one can enjoy the decorations. Already two months of the new year are over. Christmas won't be too far
