How to aware people about driving?

Recently we went for a tour. It was around 700 kms away from our place. We went in the evening and returned the next day. It was tiring because of the travel time. We ensure that we may not feel sleepy while driving at night; that's why I and my brother were driving the car turnwise. On an expressway, we saw a car hit another one side by side and hit the divider badly because it was at high speed. The family inside was badly injured. It was because the person who was driving was tired and was sleepy. They were lucky that they didn't lose their life, but that's a lesson for them and for us that we should not drive at night when we feel sleepy. This is basic but still people take risks. Have you ever been in such a situation when you felt sleepy and still drove?

Seems to be tiring and eventful trip. Long drives and especially at night can be exhausting. It is very important to take turns and stay alert like how you and your brother did. The accident you witnessed is a harsh reminder of how dangerous driving can become. Good to know the family survived, but it would have been horrible experience for them. I totally agree that people should never risk driving while feeling sleepy. It can have dire consequences. I try to avoid night driving and even if I drive avoid driving while I feel sleepy. I do take breaks and pull over to ensure I get breaks in long drives. Well, hope you had a good time. Take care!

I think everybody shall be resonsible when they drive. Of course it should not drive if you are sleepy and drunk. But sadly sometimes people ignore it and don't think accidents will happen to them. In fact when we are driving, sometimes the GPS will remind you that you have driven for a long time and need to take a break.

The person next to the driver must continue to chat with the driver so that the driver does not fall asleep while driving and it is best to look for a place to rest before continuing the journey and then, once the driver are no longer sleepy, continue on the road.

I try to avoid driving when I am not feeling active or sleepy. Still I have at times driven when tired when coming from a place a few hours away. I think if at any point, one is feeling too sleepy, they can pull the vehicle aside, pour some water drops on their face, drink some water. Take a break & then start. Yet the most problematic is the case with Buses. Many buses operate during the night. Recently, a bus coming from Agra to Delhi had an early morning accident near a place called Fatehabad. I wonder if the driver was having a lack of sleep or was he drunk. However, a lack of sleep can be quite harmful. And if possible, can be avoided.

@sjvg1976 Yet often many Bus drivers drive in less than optimal conditions to cover more trips and make more money. They endanger their own as well as passengers' lives.

I have heard lots of such news in the past. A bus driver should not take a risk , he has the responsibility of 100 passengers sitting in the bus.

I have travelled long distance by bus over night. The driver is kept awake by a companion who keeps talking to him.

I have. But I tend to Pull over and "rest my eyes" when I am sleepy. We have a lot of bad drivers here in California.

That's a better decision. Few of my friends do the same. They stop on the side of the road and sleep and after few hours start driving.

There are times when I am "tired", but do tend to stay alert when driving. I put a candy or something in my mouth, or turn the radio on to my kind of music if I am that tired. My father used to tell me never to sleep next to the driver because that will make the driver sleepy too. Here, traffic and drivers can be very bad - there is no way I can drive with sleepy eyes.

Driving is a skill which people don't realize. It needs practice. Without proper practice, its like putting your and others' lives on the line!
