When did God stop speaking with humans through prophets?

In ancient days, God used to speak to us through prophets and sages. He gave us lots of laws and a few commandments. He inspired the prophets to write the holy books. This God interacted with entire humanity through these prophets But when and why did God suddenly stop speaking to us through the prophets?

God has not stopped speaking to us. Just go through the books, writings , sayings by the prophets and you might hear God speaking to you.

There are modern day prophetic things going on, I think God speaks to when we are tuned in. But to me it’s all been written- Jesus was the ultimate prophet and Revelations is pretty tantalizing!

There are still prophets around today in the Church. They're obviously not as famous as those in Bible days. A friend who used to come to our Church is a prophetess and she told me once that God would send me someone to help me fill my calling.
