It's Now A Waiting Game

I get tickled when people get excited when it warms up like spring in winter. Because when that happens here in western NC, that means old man winter will strike in a big way.
Two Sundays ago, people were so happy and excited because we reached 70 degrees. I said that is a bad thing. And it was. Because just 2 days later we barely reached 32 for a high.
Last week we warmed up again for a day. Not to 70 this time but in the mid 60s which is still above average for our area, mid 40s is average highs. And now we are waiting for snow and another massive cold front to come park on top of us for the next couple of days.
We are expecting 1-3 inches of snow but then Thursday-Friday it will be once again bitterly cold, teens are expected for lows, highs in the 30s.
On years when we don't have freakish high spring like days in Feb. our winter is more normal, not so roller coaster with the temps.
Spring will be here soon enough. Before it arrives, I will enjoy one more snow for this winter. And am thankful because unlike many of the 35-36 winters I have spent here, we actually had 3 snows this season. One in Dec. One in Jan. and one soon in Feb. I think that the last time that happened was 25-30 years ago. And each storm wasn't bad. Dusting in Dec. 1-2 inches in Jan. and they are calling for 1-3 inches tomorrow.
To those living where you are bitter cold and getting hammered with feet of snow, my heart goes out to you. I hope you stay safe, and warm.
picture is from google. Reminds me of a place not to far from where we live.

You know I'd happily share some of the snow we've gotten in the last 24 hours with you, Judy.
I'll share a photo I took across my front yard before most of the snow was dumped here. (The Weather Channel says we got 12 inches/305 mm of snow in the last 24 hours.)
Photo is mine. Across my front yard.

@JudyEv You're welcome. Before I color-adjusted the photo, the snow looked yellow because I have a yellow porch light.
If you ever change your mind, let me know.

@DaddyEvil These photos always look like black and white images. I don't think I want your snow, thank you.

I would happily share some of the snow we have now with you... 9 inches and they're saying up to 14 before morning.
We always get one deep snow every winter. Hopefully this one is it.

@DaddyEvil We live in the foothills and the surrounding mountains block a majority of the snow that comes from the west. But if a storm comes up from the south, that is when we get the deeper snows.

That's a lovely picture.
Such weather are just a bit of break from the ongoing weather and that's why people get excited. The weather is good at fooling and confusing.

We didn’t get as much as predicted, but one more flake is too much for me.
