In Diamond Harbour the river Ganges meets Bay of Bengal. Just because the river is at the plain lands it is wide and water current is slow as there is no slope. The river meets the Bay of Bengal and here the waves become turbulent. The ships from riverine ports go to sea destinations from here.

I have been there when I was seven or eight. Some blurred memories of visiting Diamond Harbour.
