The worlds bravest dude about to be sold out by the west?

I understand the war in Ukraine was not going to end any day soon without a Trump style brash intervention. If we are honest Biden and Europe preferred a grueling stalemate where they didn't have to do much other than send kit. But the bigger picture for Europe is,if Putin gets the deal he wants then the Ukraine will be plunged back into war one day down the line, and Putin may fancy going for the Baltic states too. Trumps 'trump card', if you like, is the US supply Ukraine with 45% of their weapons and if they pull that then Ukraine lose, in theory. Like in the old Yugoslavia, we know peace keeping forces tend to sit back and avoid an exchange of fire with the waring countries trying to achieve their objectives, and so avoid escalation, again another one of those cop outs to do nothing by the west. For me Europe has to cut the USA out of the deal by saying hey, you know what, if you want to fold to Putin for this to go away we will step up our military support to Ukraine and take the risk. I have a feeling Trump, deep down, wont like that and the US Industrial Military certainly wont. Its a huge financial blow to US arms companies to lose business in Europe. Its a big blow to America to lose influence in this part of the world. The main reason the US is the success it is , is because its worlds policeman role is really about influence and control of the world. I suspect a deal will be done and the Ukraine will lose the Donbas but not the critical port of Odessa, a port important to the West. A Korean style DMZ will be in place and both sides have time to regroup. Putin will die one day and elections will be held in the Ukraine one day. Borders are created by wars and that will never change. But for me Zelensky remains one of the bravest guys in my lifetime, an actor and comedian who stood up for his country and defied the mighty Russians for three years.

I think there’ll be an “end” to the war long enough to get Putztin and iDJiT a Nobel Peace Prize DJT is nominated, along with Elon “You’ve GOT to be kidding me” Musk), then Russian will move back in. The notion that Ukraine started the war is laughable, in not a good way. But then, Israel goes through that all the time: attacked on October 7 and somehow it’s their fault that it happened.

I do think Zelensky and the Ukranian people are brave, noble, and doing the right thing. It seems to me trump is the one pushing for World War III. It serves his personal interests. Based on history, pursuing appeasement, choosing autocracy over democracy as some kind of solution to social ills, and seeking scapegoats through lies makes a world war imminent. History repeats itself. Sadly, each generation seems to have to learn that for themselves.

I have to say, I have been equally impressed with Zelenskyy's resolve despite the odds against him and fighting against a military far superior to his. That the war has lasted as long as it has without a formidable early defeat never ceases to surprise me. Granted, we (the U.S.) have sent nearly $100 billion in aid, with $67 billion of that being weapons, so that may have been part of his upper hand. I agree I think the war will end soon and Ukraine will get less out of the deal than Russia will. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing I think remains open for debate. But it is what it is. As for our support to Ukraine, I do think we should have structured this as a loan rather than just a giveaway. In a way that seems to be Trump's desire as well since he's asking for Ukraine to hand over some minerals. I guess we will just have to wait and see how this all plays out, but certainly Trump is far more equipped to get SOME kind of deal than Biden ever was, and that Kamala could ever have hoped to be. Had Kamala been elected, I don't think we'd be talking about negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. We'd be talking about WWIII.
