Thanks for the measles outbreaks anti-vaxxers

There currently are 2 measles outbreaks in two states. There are 58 cases in Texas and 8 in New Mexico. It is really wild that we are dealing with this in the year 2025. The MMR (measles/mumps/rubella) vaccine is safe, extremely effective after 2 doses (97%), and has been around since the 1960s. The Texas cluster is primarily in Amish children who are unvaccinated. It is unclear what the demographics are of the patients in New Mexico. People don't get vaccinations (or vaccinate their children) for various reasons--religious beliefs, allergies, sheer ignorance, etc. Sure there have always been individuals who don't believe in vaccines but jerks like disgraced doctor Andrew Wakefield, Robert F Kennedy Jr, and conspiracy theorists online have made it much more of a common thing to reject vaccines. Remember when Trump used to brag about "Operation Warp Speed"? But his low-information MAGA cult bought into stupid conspiracy theories, refused it, call it "the jab", and now he never mentions it. Good thing that RFK Jr is now the Secretary of Health and Human Services and Trump's stupid DOGE effort wants to eliminate the CDC (Center for Disease Control). I'm sure that will work out well for America.
