How efficient is inefficiency?

The failing effort to strip inefficiency from the government by firing massive numbers of government employees is leading to the government having to rescind dozens of these firings AFTER they find critical and essential functions have been eliminated...
1. Federal employees managing and maintaining nuclear weapons.
2. Airtraffic controllers as the number of airline crashes increase.
3. Government scientists working on a cure for bird flu.
4. Trained counselors to help Veterans who are suicidal.
5. Food safety inspectors.
Is this any way to run a government?

Yes, DOGE is one of the 81mil people-voted ways to follow through the 45th and 47th President Trump's campaign promises to govern the Great country of USA.

@MarkPaul Mark-Paul, as I often tell a precious child who is disruptive in class and is idly not on task, "Are you okay? D'you need help?"
What you are doing to yourself right now is not helping you get over your TDS because of Trump's re-elected Second-Term Presidency and USA's awesome beautiful First Lady.
Are you okay?

@everwonderwhy What I often ask raving lunatics at the bus stop who are certain the voices in their head are real is, "do you have TDS (trump DEVOTION syndrome)? Do you really think your life is better because you have let trump into your heart and life? Do your daily devotionals to trump help you with your personal grievances?"
Many times (not always), just giving them some of my attention greets them with satisfaction because it's as though they are crying out for notice. Other times, they recite how trump is helping them and then mention trump's immigrant wife who they think is awesome and beautiful. To be honest, I often don't know if they are talking about Melania or Elon. But, that's besides the point... I suppose. In any case, I think they know trump is incompetent, a fraud, and an imbecile. But, I don't press the issue with them... you know, because they are raving lunatics. I just get on the bus and wish them well with a smile.
Do you really think your life is better because you have let trump into your heart and life? I wish you well. :-)

You are being anecdotal. Now go through the three plus page list of thousands of items money is being spent on that make no sense which adds up to billions and billions of dollars. We have a president FINALLY looking into our budgets. FINALLY asking why we have so much debt. FINALLY asking why we are taking in $5 trillion a year in revenues and can't pay our bills. FINALLY asking, can we fix Social Security.
You ask, "Is this any way to run a government?" As opposed to what? Taxing Americans to no end with no results? Spending money wastefully without anyone looking at the books? Promising the American people they will be good stewards of our money by wasting it and not being transparent about where it is going?
I think the American people deserve answers, and like I said to you on another post in a comment thread, sometimes in order to fix something, you have to completely shut it down, take it apart, and figure out what the broken parts are and fix them before you can put it all back together and have the thing working properly.
In other words, you can't fix a moving car. You have to take it off the road and put it in the shop. In the meantime, someone's going to have to find another ride. But that's how it works.

All you are doing is NOT believing what you can see and read for yourself (as instructed). Instead, if Musk tells you he has saved $55 B (USD), you believe it... because you want to believe it. You SO much want to believe it... in the same way that Bernie Madoff's client believed he was getting them 25% returns on their money when the market rate was 4%.
Newflash: Your taxes have not gone down and they only will go down if the non-maga Republicans in Congress can't find their spine and end up passing trump's desire for $4 trillion (USD) in deficit (DEFICIT) spending to cover those irresponsible tax cuts.
The last time around, trump shut down the entire economy (while blaming his advisors for the decision he made) and breaking the economy so he could claim under $2 gas was no way to fix the economy. This time around, he is trying to shut down the entire government. The results will be just as disastrous. Thanks for you complicity.

@MarkPaul Makes no sense. I have TOLD you I don't toe a party line and I think for myself. Like the border bill we talked about. I didn't just take Fox New's word for it, or Trump's word for it, or the Republican's word for it. I READ THE BILL MYSELF.
As for what Musk says, no. I don't take his word for it. I don't take Trump's word for it either. It's there to see, plain as the eye can see it. I am not even accepting that any of these things are bad not having seen the context of what's been found so far. I am still asking questions. "Okay. That sounds like waste. But what was the JUSTIFICATION?" Even Trump has said, "We're looking into these things." What that means is, okay, we've discovered these things, now we'll decide if they were good things or not.
As for taxes, let me just say this without saying too much. When I was working (I am now retired), I made a LOT of money. I have a lot of investments. I watch my taxes very closely, or well, my accountant does. But believe me, I know when I am paying more or paying less. I should add that taxes, so far, have been under Trump's tax plan. Trump's tax cuts do not expire until the end of this year. However, my guess is that Trump will extend those cuts now that he is president. So ANY taxes you paid or didn't pay through the Biden years was based off TRUMP'S tax plan.
As for Trump's economy, in 2016-2020 there was NO DOUBT the economy was better. We had a higher GDP. We saw median income rise. We saw black, Hispanic and women unemployment at record lows. We had no inflation. Even the stock market soared, marching up 56% in just four years. Biden's stock market only rose slightly above 30%.
As for shutting down the government or even the threat of it, do you know how many times in history tis happened? Too...many...times...to...count. Hell, let's go back to Bill Clinton when between 95 and 96 the government shut down three times!

@porwest Everything you wrote is only marginally true and could have been better delivered by TuKKER Carlson or Sean Hannity. When trump chose to shut the entire economy down and rush through a vaccine that especially his own fans didn't (and still don't) trust, sure gas prices were low but that's because no one had anywhere to drive.
trump's taxes are low, especially for the wealthy, but at the cost of running up huge deficits. Perhaps that's a trade-off you are willing to defend as a self-absorbed trump apologist, but it does have a price and don't turn around and claim you are concerned about government over-spending.
When trump left office (kicking and screaming) the last time, the stock was tanking, inflation was raging. and the entire economy was in shambles. If you are not a trump-apologist spare me the excuses common among "the base" (it wasn't his fault, it was COVID, it was Biden's fault, it was immigration). You are apologizing for a guy who takes credit for things he didn't do (stock market on days it is up) and now as a golf-playing president again denies responsibility for inflation occurring during his second reign (of terror). NOTE: He has acknowledged inflation is on the rise; he just accepts no responsibility. Be assured when you defend that, I will remind you he also assumed no responsibility for the inflation immediately after leaving the presidency the last time (with a failed insurrection).
trump is a failure in everything he does.
