This ,message is sent to me by a nephew who will soon get married I do not know when it was the last time he was in touch with me - may be over a year or more and suddenly he sends me a pre-marriage card and says the official one will follow This 'now' generation confuses me. Sudenly he is all love and wants me in his life. I am a different kettle of fish I will be in someone's life all through and not when I need their blessings or faovurs What has been your experience?

This reminds me of my cousin who contacted me via Facebook Messenger - whom I have not spoken with since my childhood. She wanted to invite my family to her daughter's wedding. She said it would mean the world to her daughter if we came. Oh really? I have never met her daughter and actually my mother was estranged from all her side of that family. Hearing the soon-to-be wedding date, we were probably last minute, after thought guests to fill the empty chairs for those who could not make it. I did not appreciate the message and we did not go.

That is one reason people are invited - to fill the empty chairs. I wonder if my attitude of ignoring those invitations will finally have an impact on these un-emotional beings

@allknowing I can understand that they want their wedding to be grand, but it's weird how they have to coax us with such loving words. They want us at their special event, but how about any time else in their lives? Someone told me such people just want more gifts.

@much2say It is strange the world has accepted this attitude and yes when they are invited they attend those functions. When one of my nieces sent me an invitation for her parent's golden wedding I questioned who she was and she got so upset with me and called me mean and nasty

I think the young these days are just too busy to bother with a lot of conventions that we were brought up with. That doesn't mean it's better, just different.

I would say just mean and not different! How can there be no attachment with those who cared for them?

I love my relatives but I am actually too busy to talk to them or visit them these days.
