Meet The Numbat

United States

This creature popped up in my news feed a couple of days ago and I wrote down it's name so I could remember to go back and research more about it because it looked very interesting. The numbat is native to Australia. It only eats insects, primarily termites. It's now an endangered species. Isn't it interesting looking? It averages about 16" long and weighs roughly average 1 pound. It's got a long front end with its muzzle and a long rear end with its bushy tail. Oh, I just found this stock photo with its tongue sticking out. Look at that! I didn't read anything about its tongue being so special. Did you already know about the numbat?

We had them in the bushland behind our farm. I would sometimes see them when I was riding my horse.

I did already know about them. They're kind of cute, I think.
