No jury duty on Monday / myLot

Phew. I received a text message this afternoon saying that I did not have to report to the courthouse on Monday for jury duty. That kind of surprised me since I am #77 which is pretty low. They will text me on Monday to let me know what the deal is for Tuesday. I'm really trying not to get my hopes up that I will escape it entirely but anything is possible.

I know a lot of people want to serve on a jury but I've never been interested in being bored to tears over the things that can come up in a trial. I received a summons for jury duty but my doctor sent in a letter asking for me to be excused. Thank goodness! Apparently, the letter is good for two years. Good luck!

This year school started on a Thursday so we had Thursday and Friday. They wanted me to serve the first full week of the school year. I called and was like "um hell no" so they pushed it off to February. I have absolutely no interest in serving at any time of year but certainly not at the very start of the year.

I went with a stupid idea at 25 thinking I was doing my American duty. I left at the end of the day thankful I was let go, and berating myself for not getting a doctor’s note in the first place. Those chairs they had us sit in the jury box make you want vengeance against anyone who is responsible for making you sit in them.

Glad you didn’t have to go though. I always want people with a good head on juries, but it is such a pain in the literal neck.
