Chandler Police Officer Brian Larison with the assistance of an off-duty firefighter worked together to rescue a woman who was driving a pickup truck that was on fire when a cement mixer hit the pickup truck from behind on Tuesday morning.
Officer Chandler used a police baton to break open her front driver window while the vehicle was on fire. The cement truck fell on its side after the collision.
Aymee Ruiz who was the woman that was involved in the auto accident on U S Highway 60 in Mesa Arizona was rescued by the police officer and off duty firefighter. Aymee is grateful that the police officer and firefighter did save her from passing way in the accident.

I saw the dashcam video of this earlier. It was absolutely wild how quickly that pickup caught fire after the cement truck hit it. The really amazing thing is that the officer doesn't usually take that route to work in the morning... he just made a split second decision to take U.S. 60 instead of the 202 like he normally does.

To break down, and be then hit by a cement mixer, is bad luck indeed, and it was good fortune though, that she was rescued before the fire did worse damage to her too.

Yeah, it wasn't even that she broke down. Traffic ahead of her stopped, and so did she. The driver of the cement truck didn't react in time, tried to go around her at the last minute, and plowed into her and something like five other vehicles.

@yukimori Oh, so it was the cement truck hitting her that caused the fire. I was wondering why her pickup was on fire.

@innertalks The cement truck did hit Aymee's auto from the rear since Amyee could not move her auto due to the traffic jam. she was in.

That was a heroic effort by Officer Brian Larison and the off-duty firefighter! A big salute to them! Their quick thinking and bravery saved Aymee’s life. Their commitment towards their duty and saving a life, needs to be applauded. Breaking the window while the vehicle was on fire, definitely takes a lot of courage and its inspiring to see how first responders go above and beyond in such fatal and situations. This incident could be one of the countless examples where dedication and selflessness of those who risk their lives to save others. Good to know Aymee was rescued on time and well hope she recover well. Thanks for sharing the news!
