Do You Ever Buy Open Box Products?

I used to be really hesitant to buy open box products. I mean, if someone's returned it, there's a reason why, right? Then I started working where I do, and I realized that most of the time the reason is just "I decided I didn't want it." So far this year, I've gotten: A clearance/close out gaming laptop for myself at 37% off Another gaming laptop for my youngest's birthday at 52% off A 4K monitor for 74% off (actually brand new, the guy who returned it just didn't realize he ordered the wrong model until he opened it) An M2 Mac Mini for 60% off All in excellent condition, too! Sometimes I stumble across these deals. The monitor was one of those--I decided that I wanted an external monitor to plug into my laptop to make coding easier, set my budget, and then thought 'huh, I wonder how much that one we took back the other day is going for.' It was $7 over the amount I'd planned to spend, so I got that instead of the cheap one I was originally looking at. Most of the time, though, my trick is to add an item I'm looking at to my saved items list, then wait. Most items cycle through sales every few weeks or so, and open box prices tend to drop proportionally, too.

I did purchase a new turntable at a reduced price because it was open-box used as a display (visual only) and it was $50 cheaper (turntable was right at $400 everywhere else without the discount so I was happy to get it for $350). Then I turned around to upgrade the cartridge/stylus (needle) and found an open-box for $25 reduced (regular price was right at $200).

No, I don't... I worked at Walmart for 14 years and know that the display models of many items are included in the open boy sales. I've seen all the things people do to the display models and don't want to get one home and have problems with it.

My dad does that at Sam’s Club. He’s gotten some great stuff from them that worked just fine.

I've thought about it but not for tech stuff.

It's good to be able to wait for something you want until it comes up at sale price.

I haven't seen those open box deals too often, but I might check to see what Amazon has.Just because somebody didn't like something doesn't mean you won't
