My husband hated the free breakfast Micrtotel inn offered and was sick of eating it so he ran to Dunkin while we were sleeping and got coffee and some breakfast sandwiches. They wound up giving him the wrong coffee and he was irritated from standing in line so long so he just took it and left.
We had to be out of the hotel by 11am so I ran to Walmart with my little one and got her two new pairs of pants, me a tank top and 3/4 sleeve shirt, a small case of water and socks for both of us. I had packed enough medicine for me in case we had to stay an extra night but not enough clothes.
Around noon we dropped my stepson back off at the marine corps base and headed to Pokemoke city Maryland which was the half way home point.
He wanted to take the scenic route along the cost to show my little one the tunnel that went under the ocean.
My little one had to go the bathroom so we stopped at Royal farms. My husband said their food was good and he was hungry so we decided to order food and eat it in the car. He loved their chicken and biscuits but I was not a fan of the macaroni and cheese or potato wedges I got.
My husband was excited to see Pokemoke city. He didn’t want to stay any further away he wanted to be right in the town. He had me look up the hotels and he picked Econo Lodge. I said since it’s only rated a 5 out of 10 what if it was gross. He said he was tired of driving and didn’t care that he had stayed in a lot of gross places in his life. I said yeah but not with a little girl. He had me go in and pay. Ugh the room was gross I have a long list of all the gross things I will be leaving a review about. Pretty sure he regretted that choice he complained all night about how bad it smelled.
Photo is of the gummy candy I bought for my sister is while at a souvenir shop when we were by the beach in North Carolina. It looks like her doggy.

The Chesapeake Bay Tunnel Bridge is awesome. It is really a lot of fun to drive on and in.

@snowy22315 it was really pretty driving across the part that we could see water on both sides of us. I’ve never been through the tunnel so that was a new experience for my little one and I.

@Dreamerby it’s called Pokemoke city
not pokemon. It was quite a small city blink and you are through it.

The US has a lot of cities with weird names... I thought Pokemon was pretty funny, though.

@allknowing the hotel was so gross I was so happy to leave. I left it a review two nights ago. I hope that helps others.

I'm sorry you're having some bad experiences on the drive toward home. But those do happen... I hope the rest of your trip home goes better than the first part... Good luck!
Once, my first wife and I were driving just to be driving and headed South from our home in Missouri and ended up in the boondocks of Arkansas when she wanted to find a motel for the night. (I told her I wasn't tired and could probably get us home in a few hours but she wanted to stop.)
The first motel she saw was NASTY! and she changed her mind about staying there after we opened the door to the room and saw the "roommate" on the bed... It was a HUGE roach and looked like it wasn't willing to share the bed with us.
The next motel we stopped at a big black man followed us every step we took, even coming into the room when we were checking it out. He wasn't motel staff, just another traveler looking around. We don't know why he was following us... We didn't stay there, either.
By that time, I was getting tired, too, so picked the next motel. It was fine so we stayed there. You never know what you'll find when you're just out exploring new-to-you places.

@daddyevil all in all it was still a good day. There were no cockroaches in the hotel or bed bugs so it could always have been worse.
Sounds like you were better at picking out hotels than your ex wife. I wasn’t tired I would have rather driven home my little one was being good too but since he was the one driving I let him make the decisions.

@shaggin True, it can always be worse.
I wasn't willing to stop at every motel we saw. I looked for a Best Western because they have to keep up the standards of the brand. (I worked as a night clerk in a Best Western so knew what to expect with one of those.)

@shaggin Eww! That does sound nasty! I wouldn't have stayed there! No matter how tired I was... Pretty and I slept in our car one night when I was taking her to Pennsylvania to start college and again when I was bringing her home from college. We couldn't find a name brand motel along our route. It was just easier for me to drive until I couldn't drive anymore and pull over and sleep at a gas station along the route. (I did ask at the gas stations if we could park there and sleep in our car.)
