Oh, Boy! Is Walmart Getting Crafty

Consumers just can't catch a break nowadays it seems. Walmart made out like a bandit in the class action where they were found libelous for price gouging. (Put one price in their system and a different one on grocery items.) They were only made to pay $45 million. Now that might seem like a lot but when you figure out how many stores Walmart has and how many people visit those stores each day to buy groceries it just doesn't seem high enough. In 2026 Walmart is changing things up a bit. They are going to start using digital pricing and eliminating the old paper price tags. Someone has to go around the store and change the pricing manually whereas with digital pricing they do it in just a few minutes. Of course, that means the person who had to do the manual price change will lose his job but, so is the way of change. They are saying this will make for a better consumer shopping experience. Sure it will. This also means they can change the price of an object from the time you take it off the shelf to the time you get to the checkout. So what are we supposed to do to ensure they aren't still price-gouging us? Go around and take a picture of each price as we take it off the shelf to prove the price when we get to the checkout?. What will these places think of next? I only use Walmart now for the occasional miscellaneous item I can't find at my local grocery. Walmart is going on my list alongside Amazon.

I will not use Walmart and Amazon any longer. I have switched over to Target and Nordstrom.

@lilacskies .........They have one clear across town. I didn't really like it and their prices weren't very good. But I may have to check them again.

I use Amazon weekly and Walmart monthly. It just works out best for me, their TP and paper towels are cheaper than even BJs. I get my dog food from Chewy and also shop Costco. I mostly grocery shop at Big Y because they have my English toasting bread lol I love that.

@celticeagle I use them all the time and have for years and have excellent experiences. Amazon is the easiest to return to but Walmart is not far behind.

I've only bought one thing ever at Malwart... a length of 1/4" black velvet ribbon I needed to replace on a silver picture frame. It was the only place that had it, and that was years ago, decades even.

Shops can get very creative with ways to take our money off us.
