I have been reading posts here about the price of eggs sky rocketing in America. There is now news that it is the beef that takes first place when it comes to rise in prices. It is reported the price of beef now is $11.07 per pound. For more on this you can click on Are beef and eggs in your staple diet?

@allknowing it really depends on the cut, ribeye steak has been about 10.00 per pound. Ground beef has been going for 5.99 per pound. Sirloin roast around 7.99 per pound.

This will let you see the per pound prices of what I am paying here for beef, course, I buy it very rarely. You can see the price per pound for each example. These are the cheapest around here..Walmart of course.

@allknowing Yes in my city though price rising out of control, it is still relatively cheap for meat. They are an avg of 7 dollars a pound rather than 12.

I love beef and all meat. I stretch what I buy by putting meat in stews, soups, chili and spaghetti.

I'd love to pay that for beef. It's at least double that here.

Beef has been the traditionally cheaper meat to buy (here at least) which is why it is so popular. We ate so much of it growing up, both my sister and I rarely eat it now. It was just what my parents could afford. We’d have chicken too, but beef was cheaper. Neither eggs nor beef are a staple in my diet.

@allknowing I LOVE eggs, I just tend not to buy them. At a restaurant, I’ll get an omelette immediately though.

We do eat beef and eggs. Beef prices depend on the type and cut . . . I look for deep sales and can get it cheaper than 11.97 a pound in most cases. Eggs are pricey here, but I go to a store which has the lowest priced eggs at the moment. In all honestly, everything has gone up in prices.

@allknowing Eggs are a household staple for many here - the prices have jumped significantly as they were generally considered to be cheap. Prices are increasing with everything - but I guess it is most shocking with the eggs.

@much2say Eggs are a must and no matter what the price ateast I would go for them. One can always cut down on other things that are not that necessary

Beef is popular here, as is eggs. The cost comes largely in how the animals are raised. often importing grains and sometimes hormones to feed the animals. In the case of eggs, there are trends, based on weather patterns and laying habbits. In the winter months, hens tend to less less to none at all then they do in spring and summmer. so supply and demand.

@allknowing It's not something I'm overly cncerned about, because I don't pay attention to the price. Until George starts to drive again, I have to buy from one store. So, if my husband wants it, then I have to pay for it.

I like my meat but at that price I'll stick with frozen pot pies & beritos eggs I can live without as I don't need the cholesterol.

Diets such as keto and carnivore are becoming more and more popular in the US while the price of eggs (and now beef) keeps on increasing, that’s ironic but not fun, for sure. I don’t eat a lot of beef but eggs… they’re also required to make sweet dishes such as cakes!
