Everywhere I Go . . .

I am not kidding that everywhere I go, "somebody" recognizes me. We joke about it in the family, but it's true. I don't even live in a small town where everyone knows each other. I will walk in a public area, like a store, and sure enough someone will call out my name. I don't know why it happens - it just does. This weekend we drove almost 2 hours to visit my mother in law. Afterwards we stopped at a huge shopping mall about a half hour drive further from her place. While we were about to leave a bookstore, this woman waved and stopped me "Heyyyyy, do you remember me?". My first thought - NO WAY - who would know me here? And I did remember her - a fellow parent friend that I hadn't seen in 15 years. Apparently her son now attends a college nearby. What were the chances we'd run into each other there?! I saw my husband roll his eyes . I'm telling you, this happens to me a lot. Is it really a small world? Do you "run into" people you know?

I know, right? Last month, I went to a bodega which is a type of local convenience store and someone recognized me, called me from across the room, and then approached me when I stared at her in confusion. I couldn't recognize her and I just froze on the spot. She told me that we used to work together years ago and told me a bit about herself. That jogged my memory and it was nice to see her again. We talked a bit and went our separate ways.

That’s hilarious and I love it! My dad has that same “issue”. Ten percent of the time he is recognized it is because they are mistaking him for one of his 6 brothers. The other 90% they give a rousing, “Hey, Dennis!” And I try to slink away without being seen. Nobody just casually says hi.

We've been all over the place - and regularly in many cases - I guess we end up knowing folks. Everyone has to get food and supplies - we're bound to run into someone we know at the store at some point - it's like the community's common meeting place .

@rebelann I hope they finish up the road construction once and for all very soon! Oh gosh, I wish I could talk to you in line! I like chit chatting about whatevers to anyone who's willing to do the same - as long as they are mindful of time. We are heating up! But then cooling down again supposedly by Sunday. We are having a break from the fires - thank goodness. We don't want them, but it's almost inevitable . How are y'all doing? We need a Roscoe and Tuffy post .

Oh how I miss doing my own shopping. Soon I10 will be easier to navigate, I can't wait. I'm one of those annoying old ladies who likes to talk to strangers in the checkout lines, it can be interesting sometimes. How's it going over there? I'm praying there won't be anymore fires for CA to contend with.

It's for this reason that I always say you shouldn't do anything wrong as someone you know is bound to find out! lol

That is wild. What usually happens to me is someone remembers me, and I have no clue who they are. . It's really kind of embarrassing

Not very often, and if I do I've completely forgotten who they are.

Yes, it happens to me all the time... Pretty used to ask if I knew everybody in the world because it happened no matter where we were at. We even ran into people we knew when we were on vacation in Disneyland!

I am more in than out so I do not meet up with people. When I do go out the streets around where I live are pretty empty.

perhaps you stayed the same in her eyes or you really made a good impression on her. i don't but if i decide to go on one interview, i will see my ex workmates. i hope they will pretend me they don't know me; i know i will.
