Decorum aside, is it time to challenge all the lies trump speaks in real-time as he is lying?

In recent days, trump has lied about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the amount of taxpayer money his benefactor has uncovered and saved, lied about the number of Social Security recipients receiving benefits who are 150 years old, inflation and the economy, and his popularity in the USA and across the world. The media has corrected his lies after the fact, but should they challenge him in real-time like any other convicted felon (for sexual assault)?

Exactly. Macron dared to touch the fantasy-king's arm to correct him in real-time. Real-time fact checking can be done. It's not that hard. It just takes some fortitude.

They have to be able to prove it. That's not going to happen in real time.

@MarkPaul Well, no. I don't agree. In some cases maybe, but you need to look at things more through an objective lense, and the people need to see the proof. Without prooof, it's a lot of he said, she said. Many people won't accept proof published after the fact. If you're going to call someone a lier, reguardless of who they are, you'd be better be able to back it up. Or, you're not going to be taken seriously.

@kaylachan I don't agree... based on evidence. Here are some examples: 1. trump said Ukraine started the war in Ukraine. There is evidence they didn't, but his fans are now repeating what he said. No evidence. 2. maga-Republicans claim the 6 January insurrection riot was like "a normal tourist day." There is video evidence police were being crushed in doorways, rioters were defecating in the hallways of Congress, and windows in the Capitol were being broken. That's not a normal tourist day. His fans don't care about the evidence. They repeat what he says. 3. Elon Musk says he has saved taxpayers billions of dollars. All the evidence shows that is nowhere near truthful. But his fans don't care about the evidence. They repeat money is being saved. These are only 3 examples. There are literally thousands of others involving eliminating the nuclear threat from North Korea, lowering grocery prices in a 24-hour time period, and that COVID could not get past the USA borders. Evidence doesn't play to trump's fans. They don't need it. They don't believe it. They don't like it. It is not needed. I rest my case.

trump is proving it doesn't have to be proven. It just has to be said. They can document the proof after the fact. Besides, most of the lies are literally a perpetual loop, so it's not that hard to come prepared.

This is nothing new. Politicians the world over are casual liars. Don't think we can change that. The type of lies they say and how they say it differs.

These are not casual lies like claiming to have (fake) bone spurs. These are big hairy, audacious lies that contaminate the minds of "the base."

@MarkPaul unfortunately social media propagates these lies easily and people believe them.

@pitstop Even more reason to challenge them in real-time.

Trump is a psychotic liar, who invents stories to justify the actions he will perform. The world hears and sees and waits for the American people to react. He is a dictator and it will be too late when the majority realises this.
