So how are things (really) going in the USA?

Since trump took office... 1. Consumer confidence plummets. 2. Government (legal) American workers being treated like illegal immigrants revolt. 3. trump appointees refuse to comply with Elon Musk edicts. 4. Tesla valuation plummets as consumers turn against car company, worldwide. 5. Inflation rises after being curtailed (under Biden). 6. trump favourability ratings plummet. 7. trump's USA aligns with Russia, Iran, and Belarus against Europe. 8. Congressional leader pleads for prayers as he is unable to get Republican votes to pass trump-directed budget. 9. trump attempt to rewrite the Constitution to end birthright citizenship is stopped by Court order. 10. maga-Nuts who start seeing impact of government-for-billionaires impact their lives and livelihood pledge their servitude to trump while pleading to him for mercy. 11. Macron of France stops trump in mid-sentence from lying. After he finishes, trump lies again. 12. Claims of government expense cutting through mass firings with malice are revealed as phantom-savings with negative impact to health and welfare of non-wealthy Americans. 13. trump shows growing signs of dementia. 14. 20 of Elon's army of monkeys resign to defy his orders to dismantle critical government functions.

But we sure showed Mexico by renaming the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America.

LOL... Yeah, that sure proves the world respects the USA as it (and the AP news service) continues to use the rightful Gulf of Mexico name. And, who's going to pay for that name change...? ??

It is amazing that we are discussing what we thought was a top democracy. In South Korea they impeached the chap who tried to impose Marshal law. Much more democratic and honourable than the US

@MarkPaul how can it? People have been fired, security is compromised, programs have been defunded, Russia rules.

@jaylar People get fired all the time. No one has compromised security more than Edward Snowden and then was several years ago and he's hiding out in Russia. Programs that have been defunded have existed before the beginning of time; they can and will be reinstated. Russia is weak and Putin is desperate... he's dependent on trump. And, both he and trump are depending on Elon's money. That's not ruling with or without a chainsaw. Yes, things look bleak. They always do before a turnaround. It is premature to count Americans out and foolhardy to think trump (and Musk) is invincible. He paints himself as a king, but the reflection looking back at him is the village idiot. He really is not getting his way and opposition to him will only grow. Patience may no longer be a virtue, but it still always pays dividends. The future is still in our hands.

Well, just give it some time. There will be a turnaround... back to normal.

I honestly can not respect those who voted for Trump and put us in this mess. The only saving grace is if robbing all these federal workers of their livelihood can help keep Social Security solvent for the next 25 years, of put a dent in the national debt...then maybe it would be slightly worth it. I would not like it if he tries to send the money to the American tax payer it is blood money. I would feel like I was stealing from those it rightfully belonged to.

Did you hear about the near miss at Midway Airport in Chicago?

@TheHorse But, wait... there's more: An American Airlines jet aborted a landing at Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. to avoid a collision with another airplane yesterday morning (Tuesday). Thank goodness Sean Duffy, trump's reality TV star pick with 0.0 experience in transportation is on the job as Secretary of Transportation.

I share your sentiment, but if it's any consolation, "the base" has no idea what they are doing. They are simply fixated on the fake attention trump is giving them when literally he wants nothing personally to do with them and would never play golf with any of them. As for using the phantom savings they claim they are making, social security (or any other program) will not gain any benefit. The majority of the firings are illegal and when the federal workers file a class action suit against the federal government, the cost of job reinstatement, back pay, punitive damages, and all the costs associated of trying to defend Musk's antics in Court will end up costing far more than was claimed to have been saved. By their own admission by the bureaucrats now running the trump Administration, this was never about achieving efficiency. It's about disrupting the government to create trauma as a power play. Luckily, they are so intoxicated with the power they already think they have, they have performed in a truly haphazard and inefficient way. Sadly, it will take taxpayer money to correct their incompetence that will only add to the growing deficit.
