What gives you happiness?

Lately, I’ve felt petulant and moody, prompting me to search for the secret to happiness. I’ve come to realize that happiness is a state of mind-one we often attach to material things, believing they hold the key to our contentment. But true happiness lies within us.
Just like the infinite cosmos, the happiness within our souls is boundless. All we need to do is tap into it-free from expectations, detached from our mortal identities, and undistracted by life’s endless noise.
So, what brings you happiness?

Happiness comes from little thingsw which keep happening daily in our life. You just have to look for them.

@allknowing yep. We overlook the simple moments in our busy life but with time and age, we start to adore them

Like you mentioned, material things don't really make one happy. I mean, sure for some it will last for a while, but then they will be looking for something new to replace the things that made them happy so they can feel the same happiness again and again. For me, I feel happy when I listen to music, enjoy free food from work and from my family treating me, and living a simple, quiet, and peaceful life.

Yeah true. But not having expectation from people you love is hard.

@Dreamerby A lot of it is about how you react to things. Some things you can't change but you CAN change your attitude towards the situation.

That's a really though-provoking sentence. We can choose happiness....yes, I guess. Just have to get in the practice.

I derive, happiness from very simple things. Buying a book of my choice; seeing a herd of cows grazing at a large ground; looking a sky fully covered with dark clouds; sight of a jungle; watching small huts of a village - all these things make my heart dance, with joy.

We can be happy if we make up our minds to do so.

Being around my loved ones, looking at the beauty all around me, listening to music , feeling gratitude for my life and having my needs met.

True that is not possible for us. But once someone practices detachment, these things won't matter.

My approach to a fulfilling life is accepting the reality of life.
Everything is transient - so enjoy every moment.
All face challenges. It is how we face them that matter.
Challenges keep us alive and the reality of the world keep us on our toes.

My husband brings me happiness. If you want to talk material things, books make me happy. As for with myself, not much lately

So much can be said but you summed it up pretty well.
I think of happiness as a superior state of being, what external events or material things provide is temporary joy, euphoria, excitement... you name it. True happiness is more like bliss, it might even perceived as boring if compared to that temporary euphoria, but if you're truly happy you enjoy the calm anyway.

Yeah you added on to my discussion. Material things give temporary joy but true happiness is endless.
