I'm not talking like the house you grew up in but the house or apartment that you moved out on your own.
I remember the house I grew up in and the dreams that I had in it.
One of those dreams was owning my own place and decorating it and everything that came with it.
Now that I'm in my thirties and married, it seems like that dream is so far off.
Houses and rates are so expensive now versus what everything used to be.
I can't seem to get ahead enough to even look at houses right now.
It feels a little hopeless.
Do you remember your first house?
Was it this hard to get ahead to get it like it is now?

I currently live with my parents and it was the first house I grew up in. I came to this house after I was born in the hospital and then moved out at 18. Then, I moved back in at 23 and have been living in the same house for the past five years. I plan to move out again this year. I lived in a ratty ground floor apartment between ages 18 to 23.

I lived with my parents until 18 then got engaged. I lived with him and his parents for a couple years. We bounced between the two houses because my parents were in the process of moving. Now we live with my parents in Tennessee and we're trying so hard to get out on our own.

@JordanLader I moved out at 18 because I married my ex-husband and moved in with him to the ratty apartment he owns and still lives in to this day. We were right in the middle of the building on the ground floor and were surrounded by violent neighbors. It was just awful through and through. I'm never going back there again.

I'm sorry. We're still working on our first house...if we can ever get ahead. There always seems to be something
