I was going to go in to school after we had Bob's appointment, but it is in a town that is almost an hour away. Mentally I could not juggle meals, eye drops, swimming preparations, etc.
I will use some paid time off. We took our time and had a relaxed lunch on our way home. Actually ate in a roadside cafe, not at a fast food joint. I realize I am not taking the time to look at people and pay attention, just always hurrying. So today I slowed down.
The food at the 56 Family Diner (on highway 56) was real food. I had fried chicken. Not fried chicken strips, fried, bone in, pieces of chicken. Never had been frozen. Bob had a chopped steak with onion and mushroom gravy.
You could tell that the fries were home cut from real potatoes, and my mashed potatoes were definitely real as well.
You know, we pay about the same for a meal at a fast food place as we did today at the little restaurant. You can tell it is a good place to eat, every table was full at one point while we were there.
We will eat lightly tonight, and will not need a big meal.
Tomorrow is a work day, and that is alright. Bob is napping now, and I am doing some housework but also being online.

I love diners so much. They have really good food. And the diners always make me nostalgic.

This one is decorated with highway signs and photo canvases of area scenes.

I love diners and frequent them any time I have a chance. I love food like mom used to make better than a tasteless hamburger patty, that sounds wonderful.

It was very nice, and we arrived just before it got so busy that they ran out of tables.

Yes, and beneficial to slow down and look at who and what is around me, instead of always looking ahead.

Can Bob do his eyedrops himself? Sometimes I can and sometimes Pretty has to help me with them. (Usually when they're swelled shut, Pretty has to pry them open and put the drops in for me.) I need eyedrops twice a day but can use them more often than that. The doctor prescribed Restasis for me. They're specifically for dry eyes.
That sounds like a nice little restaurant.
I hope you guys are enjoying your afternoon.

I think he could do them, but he is not used to doing it. He needs them four times a day for now. He has an antibiotic, a steroid, and then as needed he is supposed to use an OTC lubricating eye drop. Our eye doctor has been promoting the "Refresh" brand. Restasis is a prescription, right?

@GardenGerty Yes, Restasis is a prescription dry eye drops. It comes in a plastic case about six inches long and three inches wide by three inches deep. The drops are in individual tubes so you won't contaminate the drops.
I hope the Refresh drops work for Bob.

@GardenGerty I can believe that you over-exert yourself from time to time. Remember to be kind to yourself too as well as looking after others.

I needed time to do a good job at helping Bob with eye drops and so forth. He will have a total of about a month and a half of eye drops four times a day and that is hard to wrap our heads around. That and a waste of time and gas if I were to take him home, then double back the 12 miles to school, OR have him drop me and have to come back. I just need to not be such a workaholic.

You would get a kick out of this place. It has lots of road signs and also photo blow ups of the area. Most people that come in are older, maybe farmers. Some of the folks are like road crews and such.
