This one lady in the store told her son no to a doll. Telling him that only girls play with dolls. Why do parents do that? Boys will grew into men some day and will help take care of the baby. They will cook meals some day. So why can'nt they play with a doll and a play kitchen.
Would you tell a girl that she can not play with a truck . No most parents let a girl play with cars and trucks.
So what is the differences.

I love your thinking. You are absolutely right. I would never tell my nephew not to play with dolls. He is free to play with dolls just like my niece is free to play with cars.

@jstory07 Yes, and that is beautiful and we should encourage them to do whatever they want!

That is sad. My boys played mostly with boy toys. But my youngest collected stuffed animals for years. Including dolls

We keep talking about gender neutral parenting as the only effective way to bring gender equality. And yet, we don't practice it. That's silly! And not even healthy for society. My elder daughter would only play with cars, my younger daughter loved dolls. They both are fine adults now.

The good thing is that there seem to be very few parents like that, probably afraid of the new gender stuff going on. But you're right, taking care of a baby or cooking meals doesn't make a man less of a man. Actually, it just shows he's responsible. I wasn't into cars as a kid but my father would give me his toys and I played with them anyway. I'm still a woman, I guess.
