This one lady in the store told her son no to a doll. Telling him that only girls play with dolls. Why do parents do that? Boys will grew into men some day and will help take care of the baby. They will cook meals some day. So why can'nt they play with a doll and a play kitchen. Would you tell a girl that she can not play with a truck . No most parents let a girl play with cars and trucks. So what is the differences.

I agree. One has his/her preferences and we are not one to make barriers/rules.

We keep talking about gender neutral parenting as the only effective way to bring gender equality. And yet, we don't practice it. That's silly! And not even healthy for society. My elder daughter would only play with cars, my younger daughter loved dolls. They both are fine adults now.

That's an irony because of a girl plays with the boy toys then it's fine and vice versa is considered to be wrong.

@sjvg1976 There is so much of gender prejudice and both genders suffer because of that. Following your heart is the way to happiness. Many men and women can't do that as they live as per the societal norms

Well, if he was 23-years-old, it might be a bit odd. How old was the boy?

What's odd in it if a 23 years old boy plays with a doll?

The good thing is that there seem to be very few parents like that, probably afraid of the new gender stuff going on. But you're right, taking care of a baby or cooking meals doesn't make a man less of a man. Actually, it just shows he's responsible. I wasn't into cars as a kid but my father would give me his toys and I played with them anyway. I'm still a woman, I guess.

@jstory07 I had no brothers but would play with boys too. Yes, toys for boys can be even more fun especially when you play altogether. I didn’t have much fun with the kind of dolls you gotta feed and lull either, I preferred animals for some reason.

Gotta reinforce those “gender roles.” My brother had a GI Joe when we were little…and what is that if not a doll.
