Happy and sad

But mostly sad. Happy that my local NDP candidate won re-election last night but sad, so sad, that PCs won the province. Jennie Stevens, my local MPP, was elected for the third time to represent the riding of St Catharines. Twenty-six other NDP candidates were elected, too. Unfortunately, that was not enough to beat out the PCs, not even if all the other candidates joined together. As you should be able to see (if it posts) the vast majority of land mass did not vote PC. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the population is in the lower fraction of the province, and those idiots mostly voted PC. Why does this sadden me? Because Ford, the leader of the Ontario PCs, wants to build unaffordable single unit housing on the greenbelt, which will destroy its biodiversity and farmland. He's already sold off Ontario Place to private developers who will build a private, highend spa there, which again nobody but his buddies could afford. And get this: He wants to build a tunnel under the 401 highway to supposedly ease gridlock in Toronto. Improving transit province-wide would do a hell of a lot more to get cars off the streets. And let's not forget what he's done to healthcare... I'm sorry, I have to take a pill or lie down or something because I'm starting to foam at the mouth.

It seems to be a good time to join in on sadness for seeing who people elected.

As long as he doesn’t say, “Hey, why don’t we become the 51st state.” Politicians are the same worldwide: corrupt, nasty, and caring about nobody but themselves.

I know it doesn't do any good but I'm sorry people voted the wrong person into office there, too. But, if Ford is like most people, he won't want to join the US under trump. That should make you a little happier.

Some politicians go down some very strange paths at times.
