My Poor Knee

United States
March 1, 2025 3:19pm CST
I went on a walk alone today to get away from everything and everyone and just have some alone time. My phone vibrated so I got distracted trying to pull it out when I tripped over something and fell hard on the ground. I looked back to see what it was because I was so annoyed. Nothing was hurting at that point. I fell on both of my knees. It was a pile of pebble like gravel. I checked my phone. It was a text from my boss. No freelance work on Monday. I have a job interview on Monday anyway. I stood up, brushed my legs, and kept walking. Everything was fine. On my way back, my right knee started hurting really badly. I started limping and the pain still hasn't gone down. It's only my right knee though. My left knee is fine. There is no bruising, blood, cuts. It just hurts a lot especially when I try to walk and when I touch it. One more thing I may have to get checked out with my doctor on Friday.

Try to ice it, and take it easy. Yu might've injured it more then you thought you did.

Thank you. I iced it and elevated it on a pillow. Let's see how it goes. So far the pain is still there, but the limping has gone down a lot.

@lilacskies The pain might linger, because you suffer from chronic pain. Chronic just means long-lasting. When something hurts, the body responds differently for someone with chronic pain, then it does for someone who doesn't suffer from it.

@kaylachan Yes, I am suffering from chronic pain today and my right knee is still hurting. I'm limping less today, but I'm still in pain even with the ice and elevation. I'm seeing my doctor on Friday so hopefully the pain will be gone by then or I can get some treatment for it.

You will probably just need to ice it a bit and by the end of the weekend you should be fine.

@lilacskies Falling on gravel as you did is easier on your knees than falling on rock or cement or even pavement. Once you return home and busy at work it probably won't bother you.

@Juliaacv That is a relief. I hope so. I have no external damage on my right knee, but I may have some internal damage though. The pain is still there when I walk and touch it. I hope it will be okay.

Yes, I iced it and elevated it on a pillow as soon as I got back earlier. My limping has gone down, but I'm still in pain. Just my right knee. My left knee is fine.

Unfortunately falls happen too easily. I wonder if you twisted your knee when you fell and it is a little out of place. I have had that happen. Continue with the ice and elevation, and I hope it helps.

I have no idea. That could be the case. What would be the symptoms of a twisted knee? I'm going to have to look into it. Thank you. Will do.

Me too. I will see my doctor on Friday. Left knee is fine. Right knee is still giving me trouble right now.

Sorry you had such a bad fall. I hope your knee will be OK but if it does keep hurting do have your doctor check it out.

Thank you. I iced it and elevated it, but the pain still there. Limping has gone down a lot, but I'm still having a hard time. I'm going to see my doctor on Friday and ask about this. My left knee is fine.
