Knee Making Popping Noises

United States
March 2, 2025 1:35pm CST
I woke up with my right knee hurting today and when I got up to use the bathroom, my knee started making popping noises. My left knee is fine. My right knee is giving me trouble. I iced it and elevated it on a pillow, but it still makes popping noises when I move and it still hurts just like yesterday. I am limping less though, so that's a start. I slept well for the past two nights. I slept 7 hours straight both nights, so that's a good sign. I hope I can sleep 8 hours tonight and keep this up. My dark circles around my eyes are slowly fading due to getting decent sleep again. I am also suffering from chronic pain today. I have been doing poorly in that regard since Friday, but I have been trying to distract myself with other things because I always have chronic pain. Some days, it goes for a bit, but it always comes back. I am having a busy day today, so hopefully I can keep myself distracted. I'm trying to go easy on my right knee though. I'll see my doctor about it on Friday along with my health checkup results and my blood work results.

Maybe by Friday it will have gone away I seem to have gotten my BP well under control, but yesterday when I was walking the track my outer thigh was hurting.

What is going on with you and me? We need to see a doctor for our health issues. We have to see a therapist. And we even get hurt while walking. Goodness. How is your outer thigh now? Did you stretch a muscle? Did you fall or did it just start hurting? My knee pain is not going away at all today. It's still there and it's making popping noises every time I walk. I hope the popping noises at least go away by tomorrow. I have a job interview.

@lilacskies I don't see myself as necessarily having health issues. It is partly a function of getting older in my case. I am seeing the doc Tuesday, but not sure what I am gonna tell her. The more intervention the more money..Besides I feel fine 99 percent of the time. I am going to do my steps on Monday..we will see if my thigh hurts. If it is just mild I won't mention it. Sat. At the track though it was killing me when I first started .thought I was going to have to quit, but I walked a mile..pain went away gradually.I was thinking what's going on though? I am used to walking. I will try better shoes tomorrow though to see if it makes a difference

@snowy22315 Just in case, ask your doctor about your thigh though in case it's something serious. I'm going to ask about my knee because it hurts so much. The pain isn't going down at all. The limping went down, but the pain is the main issue. The popping noises started this morning and that's not going away at all. The popping noises don't hurt. They are just disturbing to me because I never had this happen before. Yes, that is a good idea. Try new shoes and see if it makes a difference.

This is not to scare you but from the bump it could be water on the knee, I have had that and the doctor will draw the water out.

@lilacskies deep breaths and remain calm. A needle is used to pull out the water. If nothing else is wrong no surgery. And besides that might not be your problem. For more info there is this

Oh my goodness. I'm alarmed. How does the doctor get the water out? Do I need surgery?

@RasmaSandra Thank you for the information. I'm going to check this out. Now I'm going to go down a rabbit hole doing research on this. I sure hope this isn't the case. I hate needles.

In my case, it's my right knee. Why do you think this is happening? Did you get yours checked out? I'm seeing my doctor on Friday so I'll see what's going on then. I hope it's gone by tomorrow though.

The pain is still here, but the good news is the popping noises are finally gone. I woke up this morning with them gone. Thank goodness. I have see my doctor on Friday so I will have to ask him about my right knee though. Thank you. I have a job interview this evening.
