I am not 80. I just don't wake rested so I feel like I am 80. I did not go to the pool last Monday so Heck or High Water I got up this morning and by 15 to 8 I slammed the front door and headed into the fog. Tons of fog this morning. Got my exercises done. By late morning sunshine appeared and so did the worker who cleaned for us a couple of weeks ago. Surprise. I'd said he could maybe come over tomorrow- not today- and help my wimpiness get some gardening done. I grabbed my cane and car keys. We drove over to Ace Hardware and bought bags of chicken manure, mulch and dirt. Home again, he got busy cleaning up the mini grape area that I planted last year. He made a wooden surround from left over wood and really made the bed quite tidy. I hope the grapes appreciate the manure. Delight for the day: I planted a wild currant bush last year. Today I found that the bush made it through the winter in good shape. It has little pink-red flowers starting to sprout out. Wild currant is native to my area. Hummingbirds will love this bush. While Mr. Helper dug and cleaned up the grapes hubby and I drug a 50 pound box of dog food into a closet. I did some dishes and took recycling out. I love the fresh feel of oncoming Spring. Somebody planted daffodils all over my property so right now there are spots of yellow from front to back. No pattern that I can tell. Just tall yellow flowers poking out of the ground. Lovely to see.

I hope you aren't starting too early on your gardening. Here, it would be too early still. Late March or early April is when we start working on things outside. I'll need to go out and cut down the pampas grass and the new walnut trees that have sprouted around our yard if we don't want them shedding more walnuts in the yard for us to clean up. We also have downed tree limbs from the storms we've had this winter and we'll need to drag them up to the edge of the yard for the city to pick up and turn into mulch.

@DaddyEvil Its early almost Spring season at my house. Yes to goodies like lettuce and chard. Heck no to tomatoes and green beans and all those other summer treats. The perennial geraniums are just starting to poke out of the dirt. I want to see if I can clean that up but don't know. Maybe if I take a stool out there for a sitter. You're going to cut down pampas grass? That stuff gets huge. My left side yard is mostly a walnut tree haven. Huge old tree.

@sallypup We brought the pampas grass from the other house when we moved and planted it at the corner of our front porch. We had two huge clumps of it there but the guy that bought that house would only let me take a start about the size of a gallon bucket. It's doing very well, though. The older couple beside us have a huge walnut tree in their yard and their grandkids always throw walnuts into our yard. We normally throw the walnuts into the ditch at the end of our yard but didn't get them all this last fall. I'd rather not have walnuts since they damage the lawnmower blade when we're mowing. I normally plant tomatoes and bell peppers but Pretty has refused to let me plant them last year and says she's not letting me plant them again this year. I need her help with them since half the time I can't see to water them during the summer. They'll die if she doesn't help and I don't want them to die like that.

@DaddyEvil That's too bad. You can't have a planter bucket near a house door so that you don't have to walk far? I think projects are good for a person.

You sure are a worker bee. It must have felt so good to get all that done.

@AmbiePam Thanks and good one. The guy I paid did most of the work. I mostly wore myself out going up and down stairs and thinking about the parts of the house that needed cleaning but wouldn't cause I was too tired.

@lilacskies Thanks. I need my green space or its time to head to a nursing home.

@lilacskies Thanks again. Thinking about nursing homes pushes me through pain and out the door. Fred cat is hugging me right now, though. Not joking.

@sallypup You are welcome. Oh no. Hold off on the nursing home. You are too young for that place.

Wonderful to hear that spring has found you. Bike Week continues here and all these noises but everyone appears happy even with kind of breezy cool weather.
