Vegetables are an essential part of our daily food. Though we have a refrigerator we prefer to have them as fresh as possible. We have a market just a km away. This market gets a good supply of green vegetables and fruits as it is surrounded by farm lands on three sides.
This evening I bought bitter gourds, lady's fingers and a bottle gourd ( Should it be called pitcher gourd?). In the fruit section I bought two dozens of bananas, a kg of guavas and a packet of dates (500gm). Bananas are necessary for after meal supplement.
Perhaps you will know from my list that our life is simple and minimalistic. But as we live in a semi rural region vegetables come for rather a modest price. And I believe that is a blessing.
We live with orphans and we don't have money to spend on luxuries. Groceries have become costlier by 80 to 90 percent. Life for lower income groups has been becoming more and more difficult. I'm beginning to worry what we are going to face a year from now!

Certainly prices are increasing. It's good you live quite close to market gardens. At least the vegetables should be very fresh.
