The Transformation

Our excitement is really building. In less than a month we are headed back up to our West Virginia home. When we bought the home in 2003 it was in unbelievable condition. The family we bought it from were hoarders and didn’t have the home in livable condition. Looking at the pictures you might feel that we were crazy to buy it, but my parents had owned it when I was a child and it is very sentimental to my family and I. My father helped my husband restore much of the home. After daddy’s death we have continued to restore the house. It has been a long slow journey. It takes money and time. We have done nearly all of the work ourselves. Honestly we couldn’t afford to hire someone to restore it all. We have it about 75 % done. The fireplace still needs a small bit of work. It truly has been a labor of love. We enjoy working on it. Do you like to restore things ?

@Tampa_girl7 We want pics when you're finished! It will be even more special that it was your family home.

It sounds like a very exciting project. The fireplace looks really nice. I haven't really tried to restore anything other than furniture.

@Tampa_girl7 Yes, there is a coffee table in the other room I got for free somewhere. It is fine but needs some stain on it. That is a project that is within my wheelhouse

It feels good to restore something and get more use out of it.

That is so great that this home that was so sentimental to your family became available for sale. I would love to restore things. Haven't had the chance. It's so great to see the finished product and know you did that.

The house in this post looks nicer than before. I like to clean up messes outside of my backyard.

We are so close to being done. We still need to do the kitchen. It will be a challenge.

The fireplace looks lovely. I hope you are able to get all the work done. No, I don't like to restore things. I let the experts do the work. Have a good day.
