Question of the Day- What Was Your Favorite Act(s) to See at the Circus

I've been to a few circus performances as a kid. Back in the day, seeing a circus show was considered a spectacular event, similar to going to music concerts or sports games today. The circus is not as widespread anymore with many of them consolidating or disappearing altogether. The one big difference with those which are still in operation are their entertainment acts are animal free. Why did this happen?
One main reason for the decline was the growing concern over the use of animal acts in the performances. Animal cruelty was cited as being the specific reason for the public outcry. With animal rights groups like PETA helping to shift public opinion, and places passing laws against using animal acts, it resulted in reduced ticket sales. Eventually, other forms of entertainment filled the void of taking your kids to see the circus.
Now, getting to my question about favorite circus acts. Here are some of mine and why. My focus was always on the aerial acts. Maybe because I was afraid of heights and falling from them.
It was always a pretty tense moment with the possibility of the performers falling so watching the TRAPEZE ACTS, TIGHTROPE WALKERS and TRAMPOLINE ARTISTS perform would be my reasons for picking them out.
How about you what were your favorite acts and why?
I still think even without the entertaining animal acts no longer a part of the majority of circuses I would still find going to see a one a fun time. If you had the opportunity, would you go to the circus?

@dgobucks226 — my uncle is a clown, so that’s not it. Never was taken as a child. I really never had an interest.

I had only been to the circus when I was a wee girl.
I only remember that the clowns and midgets frightened me.
I do remember watching the trapeze artists in awe.

Oh yes, so exciting you would really enjoy those high-flying acts!
Not so fun fact:
Animal trainers in circuses use bullhooks, whips, and electric prods to train animals to do tricks.
One reason why most circuses no longer have animals.

I miss the times. Circus performances really were a big deal back in the day, and it is sad how their popularity has declined over time. The shift away from animal acts was a major turning point, and while it was for ethical reasons, it definitely changed the traditional circus experience. But then how other forms of entertainment stepped in to fill the gap—now kids are more likely to see a movie or a live show instead or play games on their PlayStation. I have always been drawn to aerial performers and clown actions. The thrill and danger of trapeze artists and tightrope walkers always kept us on edge. Their strength and flexibility were mind-blowing. Fire breathers was scary for me and jugglers was always an excitement to watch. It has been long since I have been to a circus. Not sure of the future.

Yes, totally agree the traditional circus with big top tents, and travel from city to city in a caravan has faded into oblivion. Eventually, they moved into arenas but could not sustain their popularity with the exclusion of the popular elephant acts and with today's competition from video games the circus we once recognized is all but gone.
I always enjoyed the jugglers too.
