Tomorrow is the St. Patrick's Day parade in Seaside Heights

If the name of that town sounds familiar it is probably because the original MTV show "Jersey Shore" was filmed there. Yes there is a parade but it is March and cold so most people go over to the island for the day drinking. In my younger (and possibly even underage) years my family and friends would go each year. My ex and I finally stopped when we got there in the afternoon and everyone was already hammered and a stranger puked in my purse. Anyway my good friend texted me last weekend that they were doing a bar crawl in Seaside "next Saturday". I thought to myself "just go, get out of the apartment, and have fun". It wasn't until hours later that I realized it was going to be the St. Patrick's Day parade. Yikes. Today she went around the building giving those of us going gold fanny packs with shamrocks on them and filled with goodies--a gold coin (in case we need to get lucky), a shot glass on a beaded necklace, a glow stick in case we get lost and need to be found, candy and snacks in case we get hungry, a shamrock hand stamp, a beer coozie, and something else I'm forgetting. My students took the candy without even asking (what cheek) but I kept everything else in it. Yes we will be easily identifiable as a group tomorrow. It actually will be helpful because I won't have to bring my whole purse. I'll just bring my keys, phone, ID, a credit card, lip balm, lens wipes for my glasses and my inhaler. That will all fit in the fanny pack. My friend's sister has to drive past here to get to her house so I think she is going to be able to pick me up to get to her house. We will Uber over to the island. I will happily Venmo her money to cover my portion of the cost for that. I am afraid to see what it will cost me to get an Uber back here though. I'm expecting like $100 since it is a distance and it will be a very high volume time. Whatever. I earned that today just in class coverages. Stay tuned for tomorrow's shenanigans!
