What in the hell has happened to NASA? Another rocket goes down!

I remember, as a child, when we landed on the moon. Everyone was excited. More recently, we lost a couple of Space Shuttles, and everyone was sad. But now we have rocket ships exploding, and air travel disrupted. How did this happen? How did our revered space program become one that has multiple failures and disrupts air traffic, especially in an era when air travel has become increasingly dangerous? Some of the commercial airplanes in this video were short on fuel, and unsure where and when they could land. It is fascinating (and disheartening) to hear the uncertainty in the pilots' voices. The video I'll link is actual communications between airplanes in the air and air traffic controllers. What the heck is happening?

no that was Elmo's SpaceX rocket test flight. It had nothing to do with NASA. Maybe he should spend more time dealing with that company rather than blowing up the federal government.

Are you saying that this explosion, that disrupted traffic, was conducted by an Elon Musk-controlled company? How could that happen?

@TheHorse Yup. It was the 8th test flight of the rocket and it had a "rapid unscheduled disassembly" yet again. The debris rained down over Florida and the FAA had to stop flights as a result. Good thing that Elmo is now controlling the FAA!

Not NASA, privately-owned SpaceX.

Well gosh and golly! Why would a private company, especially one that's not particularly competent, it seems, be allowed to send rockets up into space?

@LeaPea2417 I have not read up on Musk's history. I went on a Trump reading binge during Covid.

Well Boy Howdy! I wonder how big a fine they'll have to pay for disrupting air traffic.

I'm glad we're not planning to fly at the moment. A young guy over east (our east) managed to get onto a plane with a loaded rifle! They're checking their security.

@TheHorse Heaven knows. A shearer that was on the flight tackled him first and the crew stepped in to help.

Heh. Yes I can. I wonder how much they'll have to pay in fines for disrupting air traffic in the US and elsewhere.

@BarBaraPrz I follow some lawyers on YouTube, but I have no idea what The Law says about private companies interfering things like air travel. I am heading out to dinner with some friends this evening. The hostess is a lawyer. Perhaps I will ask her. If I remember.

I have not read too many such news but just seen glimpses of a few. I have not analyzed in depth, but here is my take: We, the Humans and especially those who state themselves as the Big Representatives of the whole world: G7/G8 / G10/G20 etc. have made a system of economies and trade that emphasizes on always doing more. So more production, more roads, more railway networks, more airports, planes, flights, Services. 24x7, 24x7x365. We expect Resources (historically : humans) to be efficient yet we do not want to invest adequately for their health, education, mental well being. We want them to operate and work day in and day out with the efficiency of a Robot and if they fail, just discard them, irrespective of what mental state they get in. So well, we expect things to go all smooth, all efficient and so on. Yet, everything has its limitations. Humans, even Robots but who listens? Who understands? In such a scenario, all such things are bound to happen!! By the way, I have a feeling that I thought I was working equal to 3.5 people in my Organization but my manager expected me to work for 6.5. Sorry for an out blown and mind boggling big post !! Have a nice day ahead !!
