Our Little Social Life

We do not have much of a social life. We enjoy spending time together as a couple and time with our family. But 5 days a week, for the mornings, my husband and the twins are at a playgroup. They have friends there. My husband is friends with the parents and grandparents of the children that attend. They chat and enjoy each other's company. As a result, we get invited to alot of their parties. Today is one such a day. Harper's best friend, Joe Joe, is celebrating his third birthday. I have picked up a couple of little trays of goodies to bring along as well as a little matchbox farm set. The twins love these mini M&M's and I thought that Joe would also. I didn't have any bows on hand, so I attempted to make one with stripes of the wrapping paper. ~Photo is mine

Thanks, I just totally forgot a bow, although his gifts will all be in gift bags I am sure, but I still like to fuss over a gift by wrapping it myself. The hostess is from the Philippines originally, and she always puts out an amazingly great spread.

@Juliaacv You are welcome. I'm sure they will appreciate the handmade bow. What's on the spread?

@lilacskies She makes homemade spring rolls, and a couple of dishes that I don't know the name for. Her husband is famous for doing a brisket on his smoker-that is always to die for. I picked up a bread dip tray and a cheese and meat nibbler tray and made some white chocolate almond bark to pick on. I know that our son said he was bringing a fruit and dip tray. There will be another lady from the same country there, and I hope that she brings some of her spring rolls, they are super good, but she will probably not so as not to take away from the hostess's rolls, but she will make something yummy. It is a very multi cultural group, someone from Brazil, us from Canada, someone from Pakistan, someone from the Carribean, and of course the Philippines.

That's a fancy-looking bow. It's nice your social circle is growing through the interactions at playgroup.

@JudyEv He has been offered a job at the playgroup for when the girls start school, as they know that his time will be freed up. Of course he is not interested, but it was a nice compliment to be asked.

Grandpa has made such dear friends with the parents of those children. They have a group text that he is part of and many of them told me that they love Grandpa and that he holds them all together like a little family.

The parents are alot of fun, and they all love Grandpa, which is what everyone, little and big ones alike, call my husband. I think that the only ones that really know his name are those that are in the group chat. The mini M&M's are perfect for the really little ones. But they cannot possibly eat a container of them in 1 sitting.

He will like them. A tube is too much even when I split it with the twins. Eventually they will grow into it. Tomorrow I plan on making some two bite cupcakes as Willow asked for cupcakes one day last week when I asked her what she'd like for lunch the next day.

It sounds like a good social life to me but then I live alone and have mostly stayed home because of the road construction, I'm hoping to get back out there once the construction has finally cleared up

You were very lucky. I never had a birthday party growing up except for the year that I was in the hospital for my 12th birthday, and my grandparents and aunt came to the hospital with a cake and them and the nurses gave me a little party.

Thank you, I have never attempted this before. I had ribbon, but I don't make bows very well with ribbon, and since the wrapping paper was striped I didn't want to use ribbon.

That’s a good and great balance between family time and social connections! Even though you don’t have a big social life, having that playgroup gives your husband and the twins a great way to engage with others. In fact, that is a great tip for most of here at Mylot. It is also good that they’ve made friends, and it’s nice that you’re included in their gatherings and events too. Birthday parties for little ones are always so enjoyable and full of energy. It makes us feel so young and joyful. The matchbox farm set sounds like a perfect gift—thoughtful and definitely fun! Mini M&M’s are always a great choice. I liked the creativity of making a bow from wrapping paper strips. Hope you all have a wonderful time at the party!

It is great to see them interacting together. The hostess is from the Phillippines and she is an amazing cook, we'll eat very very well today.
