Recalling That Golden Time

I'm back from my Friend's houseand now am lying on my bed. The fan is moving fast over my head. I recall the time when in our town all male members of almost all the families in the town used to sleep outside our houses. Lying on my bed under a huge neem tree ( I don't know what this tree is called in English). I would lay on my bed looking at and trying to count the stars shining in the sky. I don't remember when the cool; pleasant breeze would made us fast asleep. My father or elder brothers would tell us stories of our great hero's who fought the intruders; our freedom fighters; stories from the Ramayana and the Mahaabharat. Lying on my bed I'm badly missing that golden period of my life. How do you feel about that have gone perhaps for ever??

Right now is the best time of all. We have the internet and can stay in touch with family and friends because of it.

@Shivram59 Technology has made many aspects of our lives better. Yet I think the instant happiness of talking to those who are close to us and meeting people at different functions is gone and a certain artificialness has taken over. That is something that would be hard to come back.

Of course; we now have internet; but I don't think it can give us the warmth and pleasure we had those days. We used to meet each other face to face and talk and share our joys and sorrows. It was simply unmatched.

The olden days where there are no phones or internet are gone forever. People are not stick to technologies yet they are truly happy.

Thanks; my friend. Life in those days was not complicated. No phones; no Internet; no advance technologies. Life was so simple. But now those days are gone and will never come back.

When we were kids we would also sleep outside in the garden in summer or else on the terrace. Miss those days. The owner of the land made us vacate and gave us a flat in exchange. We felt we had moved into a cage. Miss those days.

@Shivram59 From my window now I cannot see the sky. For that I have to get out of the house. And don't know when I last saw a sky full of stars.

I understand. Those were the golden times that would never come back at least in our life time. Sleeping in the open under a star studded sky and enjoying cool breeze was really a divine experience.

It's nice to those golden days but all we have to do is remember and cherish those happy memories.

@cacay1 Yes. Our Hindu scriptures say; " Time does not pass; we do. Our desires never die; we do."

Well, I too sometimes feel nostalgic about things of the past that I liked but would never come back. Till 9 and a half years of age, I used to stay at my Grandma's place. We too used to sleep on roof tops during summers. We had a Street where elders of different houses used to bring their Beds (Charpai) and talked and chatted. Neem is also called Indian Lilac or Margosa although I think Neem itself is used in Western world as well. I can relate to what you are talking and those times will never come back but the memories would ever last in our thoughts.

You are absolutely right. As Indians we know how those days were. Life was simple; not complicated. Here we used to sleep just outside our houses. Women would sleep on roof tops. Those days, are now gone and would never come back again at least in our life time. Thanks for telling me,what Neem is called in English.
